More about It: Welcome to Derry
It: Welcome to Derry, HBO's upcoming horror series, is getting ready to make a big impression at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in 2025. The show, which will premiere in October, is a precursor to the popular films It (2017) and It: Chapter Two (2019), all of which are based on Stephen King's novels. To offer fans a preview of what to expect from the series, the show will be discussed at an exclusive panel at SDCC on July 26 before its official release. The event will take place in Room 6DE from 9:15 to 9:45 p.m.
HBO has prepared various interactive events during the Comic-Con weekend to increase interest in the show. Per reports, Pennywise-themed pedicabs will provide free rides around the convention center, while brand ambassadors will hand out themed candies and promotional products in the nearby neighborhoods. Inside the panel, participants will be treated to complimentary ice cream while watching exclusive footage from the first episode.
Jason Fuchs, Barbara Muschietti, and Andy Muschietti, who were members of the original films, are also the creators of It: Welcome to Derry. In order to help viewers comprehend the evil forces underlying Pennywise's recurring appearance every 27 years, this new series delves into the nefarious past of the fictional town of Derry, Maine. Future seasons are supposed to go back further into even older decades, such as 1935 and 1908, while the first season takes place in 1962.
While Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise the Clown, this time, he also joins the production team as an executive producer.
The ensemble cast of It: Welcome to Derry is impressive and includes Stephen Rider, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Taylour Paige, and Jovan Adepo. The show will feature new individuals navigating the unsettling events in Derry, though their precise roles have not yet been disclosed. The plot will reference parts of Stephen King's book that weren't covered in the films, such as Derry's paranormal past and significant catastrophes connected to Pennywise's awakenings.
It: Welcome to Derry is already generating traction as one of HBO's biggest genre debuts of the year, with its October premiere set and SDCC advertising underway.
