It: Welcome to Derry has released half of the episodes of its first season and established how bad things really are in Derry. Episode 4, The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function, revealed a lot about its origins, Will's personal trauma stemming from his father's past injury, and Margaret Truman, aka Marge, with her eyes bulging out of her head.

It: Welcome to Derry has now shared a newspaper clipping of the horrific scene on their socials, reminding viewers of how bizarre and horrifying the incident was and what possibly awaits.

It: Welcome to Derry posts a news article of Marge's eye incident

In the fourth Episode of It: Welcome to Derry, we see that Marge tried to prank Lily because she was trying to fit in with the popular girls' group at school, Pattycakes. This group was pressuring Marge to prank Lily, and out of her desire to be a part of this popular group, Marge initially agreed. She told Lily that a senior footballer liked her and asked her to meet him in the bathroom to get ready, which was a setup to embarrass her in front of everyone.

However, before Marge could actually execute this prank to fit in with the Pattycakes, she changed her mind and decided to tell Lily the truth. But before Marge could tell Lily the truth, she was affected by a terrifying hallucination, which caused her to see her own eyes bulging and her head to hurt. She became disoriented and tried to tear out her own eye with a chisel. Lily saw Marge in distress and tried to help her, and the rest of the school saw her with the chisel, which led to everyone thinking Lily was somehow involved.

The official X account of It: Welcome to Derry has posted a newspaper clipping of the incident with the heading,

Young Girl Maimed In Mysterious Classroom Incident
"Doctors Remain Hopeful That She Will See Again"

The news is fictional, published in the It: Welcome to Derry universe's The Derry Herald. It includes a picture of Marge and a short article on the events that occurred at Derry High School. The article states that Margaret Truman was injured in a school incident. Since everyone found Lilly trying to help Marge but assumed something different, the article also has the slight connotation that another student (Lily) might be involved. The connotation is more understandable because the article mentions how this said student has had a

"history of emotional disturbance."

The article also states that Marge was taken to the hospital and received urgent medical care. While her condition was critical, doctors have said her eyesight will recover, which is likely to happen since, in other clips of the show, we see Marge with a bandage patch on one eye. The article concluded by mentioning that the police haven't yet commented on the incident, and the school has taken additional security measures; however, the incident has haunted everyone, especially parents.

This news clipping post highlights just how big the incident really was and how It has shaken the town to an extent. We know it is behind the incident, but the fact that Marge was still left alive makes one wonder what else It has in store for her, since it could have killed her like the other children, but didn't. Hopefully, a future episode will revisit this incident.

Episode 4 of It: Welcome to Derry, Neibolt Street, will be released on HBO on November 23, 2025.
