Jake Gyllenhaal surprises the Adolescence star Owen Cooper with a heartwarming gesture before the Emmys

Owen Cooper's Adolescence was the biggest breakout this year and led to a well-deserved Emmy nomination for the 15-year-old British star of the show. Now, the Emmys are rolling around, and in a few hours, we'll find out if Owen Cooper will win in his nominated category and become one of the youngest actors to win the prestigious award.

For Cooper, though, it appears the biggest surprise would not be winning the Emmy but getting a chance to meet and greet his number one in Hollywood, none other than Jake Gyllenhaal.

It turns out, however, that Cooper did not have to wait until the Emmy ceremony for the off-chance that his dreams would come true, and Jake Gyllenhaal surprised the young actor before the ceremony.

Adolescence actor Owen Cooper gets the biggest surprise ahead of the Emmys

When the Adolescence actor Owen Cooper appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live two days ago, even Kimmel couldn't be prepared for the fact that the biggest reason Cooper was looking forward to the ceremony was to treat it as his personal meet-and-greet session with his favorite Hollywood stars.

The young actor reveals to Kimmel that he is a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal and even goes on to call him "my Number 1."

"I want to get there, do all the media, and then just chew off Jake Gyllenhaal's ear off all night"

Owen Cooper has never not been vocal about the fact that he is Jake Gyllenhaal's biggest fan. In fact, the young actor has been talking so much about the seasoned actor that even Jake decided it was time to come in and meet the young, talented actor.

Cooper was in the midst of an interview, being asked about how he would react if and when he met Gyllenhaal. The young actor predicted that he would probably just go mum and stare at him. It was at this moment that he looked around to find Gyllenhaal walking towards him, and he does, in fact, go mum and stares at the actor before allowing himself to be greeted by him.

It is a heartwarming interaction and certainly a dream come true for the young actor, who has not stopped gushing about Gyllenhaal. To make the surprise even more heartwarming, Jake reveals he has a gift for the Adolescence actor and hands him a small box.

The actor opens the box to find a miniature "lucky duck" as a gift from Gyllenhaal that he can hold on to during the ceremony. It is the most heartfelt gesture from the actor, who goes on to reveal that he received a similar gift from one of his friends when he was nominated for the Academy Award for one of his movies.

The Adolescence actor never would've dreamed that Gyllenhaal would take the time to surprise the young actor, let alone bring a thoughtful gift for him ahead of the Emmys, but the world works in mysterious ways.

At least now, the Adolescence actor Owen Cooper can go into the Emmys ceremony without worrying whether he'll get the chance to meet and interact with Jake Gyllenhaal.
