In response to speculations regarding Reacher actor Alan Ritchson portraying Batman, James Gunn recently stated that he himself is a "big fan." However, he did not provide any confirmation regarding Ritchson being the next Dark Knight in the DC Universe.

Reacher is one of the most popular action-thriller series on Amazon Prime Video that stars Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher. As per the storyline, he is a former United States Army military police officer who travels around America investigating murders, and Ritchson, known for his powerful screen presence and athleticism, rose to prominence with this role after previously appearing on Smallville and Titans.

As DC Studios reshapes its cinematic world, one of the most anticipated casting selections is that of Batman in The Brave and the Bold. While James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has been careful not to reveal too much, he recently addressed the mounting rumors about the Reacher star Alan Ritchson taking on the job – and fans are taking note.

In a recent interview with Collider, Gunn stated,

"I'm a big Alan Ritchson fan, both as an actor and a guy… let's just wait and see what happens."

Though not a confirmation, this comment has prompted renewed interest. Gunn is notorious for debunking false casting rumors, so his open-ended reaction implies that Ritchson is at least being considered.

Over the years, Alan Ritchson has had a solid career in both films and television. Prior to assuming the humorous lead in the American sitcom Blue Mountain State and its 2016 film, The Rise of Thadland, he originally earned popularity as Aquaman on Season 5, Episode 4 of Smallville (2005–2010). He gained more heroic experience as Hawk in the DC Universe's Titans. But what really made him famous was his breakthrough performance as Jack Reacher in the Reacher series on Amazon Prime.

The series highlighted Richtson's physical presence and acting range. He has also done voice-overs and starred in films including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Fast X.

Ritchson has shown enthusiasm for donning the cape and cowl. In an earlier interview, he joked,

“You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. I’d do it for free”

Despite the excitement, Gunn made it clear that the casting process will be determined by the film's screenplay and tone. He stated that while he has considered performers,

"the material comes first."

With The Brave and the Bold still in the early stages of production, interest in the project is growing.

Batman had a brief cameo in Creature Commandos, an animated DC Universe series, but his live-action debut has yet to be revealed.
