James Gunn reveals a scrapped idea for Peacemaker Season 2 involving Economos and Vigilante’s mom

Peacemaker Season 2 has kicked everything up a notch with the sixth episode, which, without spoiling anything, had one of the biggest twists ever. In the latest episode of Peacemaker: The Official Podcast with James Gunn, Gunn reveals one of the most bizarre deleted scenes that was originally in the script for the gang's visit to the pristine, little-too-white Earth 2.

James Gunn reveals a bizarre scrapped idea for Episode 6 of Peacemaker Season 2

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 5 featured Chris deciding to go to the second Earth, leaving the 11th Street Kids behind by closing the interdimensional portal. The gang, however, did not take too kindly to this and instead made it their mission to bring him back.

The sixth episode opened with all of them making their way to Vigilante's house, who warns them that his mom, who would never narc on them, could be such a "biatch." After a wildly informational (for Harcourt) introduction to Vigilante's mom, the 11th Street Kids, sans Chris, make their way into the interdimensional portal.

Adebayo and Harcourt are the only ones to focus on bringing Chris back, and Vigilante just wants to meet this Earth's version of him. Economos, on the other hand, cannot stop gagging at how weird and uncomfortable he is. Vigilante finally ditches Economos and Adebayo and makes his way to his house, to discover some surprising truths about the other him's life in this world.

James Gunn reveals in the latest episode of Peacemaker: The Official Podcast with James Gunn that, in an early script, Vigilante was supposed to find his mom making out with Economos in his visit to the other Earth.

"One of the original scripts, I had him walking by the room, and instead of it being Vigilante's mother with her father. I had Vigilante's mom rolling around on the couch-making out with John Economos. And it was the only time we ever see John Economos on Earth two. And he goes, "Oh ...my mom is fu**ing John Economos, dude." And then he just walks on and goes downstairs."

While this scene would have been insanely funny to witness, considering Vigilante, his reaction would have been a riot. Additionally, it would've been hilarious to witness Economos, who is already not handling the other world stuff well, finding out that the other Economos was making out with Vigilante's mom. Maybe it would finally lead to the vomiting he was trying so hard to stop throughout this episode.

But, instead, Vigilante finds his dad and mom together, is amused by it, and says, 'Oh my dad's not gay in this universe.' This interaction, while being funny on screen, also added more to the final reveal of the episode, as the hidden darkness of this universe is revealed. The reveal makes one think that Vigilante's father is probably gay in this universe as well, but just doesn't dare to be himself and leave.

Nevertheless, even though the scrapped idea did not make it to our screens, the next episode, as the 11th Street Kids try to survive the consequences of their interdimensional travel, is even more exciting to look forward to.
