At the end of the season, Rick Flag Sr. imprisoned Chris in an alternate universe that is habitable for humans, but dangerous as well. But before all this happened, six months after Project Butterfly, Chris had tried to get into the Justice Gang because he wanted to be recognised as a superhero and be part of the Gang. To do that, he had to give an interview. In Peacemaker Season 2 episode 1, The Ties That Grind, Chris gives an interview to get to the Justice Gang, which was taken by Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord.James Gunn recently shared a behind-the-scene picture of the scene on X with the caption,Job interviews are intimidating enough without all the cameras. #PeacemakerThe scene Gunn is referring to was the one where Chris is giving his interview with a glass wall in-between him and the interviewers, with them having mics to speak into. The behind-the-scene picture shows us the back of Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, and the front visual of John Cena as Peacemaker, mid scene. In the actual scene in Peacemaker Season 2, Chris initially introduces himself, tells them about how he has committed violent acts but is trying to do better, and even opens up about his personal trauma.Instead of giving him the needed attention or importance, the three interviewers express how what Chris is saying is boring, and start talking about the personal issues, thinking their mics are turned off, and Chris couldn't hear them. But the mics were actually on and Chris could hear every insulting thing said about him. The way the interviewers insulted him, really hurt Chris and his ego, and he walked off. After that, Chris met Emilia, who was struggling to find a job, due to Amanda Waller ruining her career. There when Chris asked Emila about an intimate moment they had shared in the past, she denied having any feelings for him, and said it did not mean anything. This led Chris to feel upset, and he went home, did drugs, hosted an orgy, and in a drugged state-of-mind, went to the QUC, which led to his journey in the alternate world properly, which is the focus of Peacemaker Season 2.
