Perry has proven to be a major antagonist in Task. The leader of the Dark Hearts has not only caused trouble for the FBI and Robbie, but also for his own guys, as he killed Eryn, the wife of his close aide Jayson.
The HBO series has so far aired six thrilling episodes and will be releasing its finale on October 19, 2025. The audience is excited to see if and how Perry and Jayson will pay for their crimes, especially after the tragic deaths of Robbie and Lizzie.
Jamie McShane, who stars as Perry, has now teased what to expect from his character in the Task series finale. In an interview with Deadline, the actor said Perry will try to ensure that Jayson does not get to know about Eryn’s murder. He also hinted that the character might finally be brought to justice and said:
“He’s going to hell, depending on what you believe. Perry is just trying to protect Jayson and his club, and at this point, he’s accidentally killed Jayson’s wife, and he’s got to deal with that. Hopefully, the body’s not going to be found. How does he play this with Jayson?”
Jamie McShane talks about Perry’s fate in Task
During the interview, Jamie McShane added that despite drowning Eryn, Perry did not actually want to kill her, and it was an accident. He further highlighted that there is a human side to him, which is reflected in his love for Jayson. Though he accidentally killed his wife, he truly loves Jayson and considers him his son:
“I think [Perry’s humanity is] in his love for Jayson. He’s treated him like a son and he’s been good to him in the best way he can.”
Talking about how his co-star, Sam Keeley, who plays Jayson, has described the relationship between the two men, McShane said:
“I think Sam Keeley described it very well. He said Jayson is like this ferocious lion, and Perry’s the lion tamer. But I think Perry truly loves him. And Perry loves being in the Dark Hearts. I do think Perry can be a loving guy, but he’s also had this background.”
Before Task, McShane played the villainous Marshal Kent in the Yellowstone prequel, 1923. He has also starred as Sheriff Donovan Galpin in Wednesday, Detective Lankford in The Lincoln Lawyer, and Eric O'Bannon in Bloodline.
In Task, he makes his first appearance in Episode 2 as Perry, the leader of the Dark Hearts motorcycle gang. As the trap houses become the target of Robbie’s robberies, Perry and Jayson go to extreme lengths to protect their power and do not shy away from bloodshed.
Apart from McShane and Keeley, the show stars Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis, Tom Pelphrey as Robbie Prendergrast, Fabien Frankel as Anthony Grasso, Emilia Jones as Maeve Prendergrast, Alison Oliver as Elizabeth "Lizzie" Stover, Raúl Castillo as Cliff Broward, Thuso Mbedu as Aleah Clinton, Silvia Dionicio as Emily Brandis, Phoebe Fox as Sara, Owen Teague as Peaches, and Martha Plimpton as Kathleen McGinty.
Task Episode 7 will be aired on HBO on October 19, 2025.
