Jesse McKeown’s limited Netflix series casts Rohan Campbell to star alongside Josh Hartn

Rohan Campbell, the Canadian actor whom you might remember as Frank Hardy from The Hardy Boys (2020-2023), has been cast in a new Netflix series. While the show is yet to be given a title, it is set to be filmed in Newfoundland, Canada, which is also where the story of the series is set.

The show stars Josh Hartnett as the lead character, but the name of the lead is yet to be revealed. Read further to know more about the upcoming Netflix series.

As Deadline reports, the upcoming series, which is still in early stages of development, will follow Josh,

"as a hard-bitten fisherman who must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town."

Harnett is known for playing Ernest Lawrence in Oppenheimer (2023), Cooper Abbott in Trap (2024), Lucas Reyes in Fight or Flight (2025), and is set to appear as Jeremy Crawford in the upcoming film, Verity (2026).

Rohan Campbell has joined the cast opposite Hartnett, meaning his character is of importance, but we don't yet know to what degree. Other than The Hardy Boys, Campbell is known for playing Corey Cunningham in Halloween Ends (2022), Ricky in The Monkey (2025), and Billy Chapman in Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025).

Cast members other than Rohan Campbell include Mackenzie Davis, who is known for playing Yorkie in Black Mirror's episode titled San Junipero, Mindy Park in The Martian (2015), Maritte in Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Tully in Tully (2018), and Grace Harper in Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).

Joining her is Charlie Heaton, who is most popularly known for playing Jonathan Byers in the Netflix sci-fi show Stranger Things (2016-present). He has also played Mark in As You Are (2016), Billy Marrowbone in Marrowbone (2017), Samuel Guthrie or Cannonball in The New Mutants (2020), Will in No Future (2021), and Jim Dagger in The Souvenir Part II (2021).

The show has been created by Jesse McKeown, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. While not much is known about the characters, the show is being written by Karen Walton, Perry Chafe, and Natty Zavitz. Walton is known for writing the film Ginger Snaps (2000) and co-executive producing the series Orphan Black (2013-2014). Chafe and Zavitz are known for writing Saint-Pierre (2024) and Edging (2018), respectively.

Other executive producers for the untitled show starring Rohan Campbell include Chris Hatcher, Josh Hartnett, Jamie Childs, Louise Sutton, Sharon Hall, and Pacesetter UK, represented by Jessica Rhoades. The show will be directed by three directors: Jamie Childs, Helen Shaver, and Stephen Dunn.

Netflix has yet to release a statement about the show starring Rohan Campbell and Josh Hartnett, its title, or further cast or crew.
