Jessica Chastain is set to appear as the lead in The Savant, an upcoming Apple TV+ series. Chastain is playing a woman known as 'The Savant,' who infiltrates hate groups online to prevent violent acts before they are committed by extremist groups. While nothing much is known about the show, Apple TV+ has described the show as:

Tense thriller meets family drama as an undercover investigator known as "The Savant" balances life at home with tracking online hate groups to stop domestic extremists before they act.

A first look at the show has recently been shared by Apple TV+, where Jessica Chastain looks mysterious, as her character is meant to be.

The upcoming Apple TV+ crime thriller is based on an article, "Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?" by Andrea Stanley, which was featured in Cosmopolitan in 2019. Melissa James Gibson has written the story based on the original article by Andrea Stanley, which talked about a woman called 'The Savant,' who infiltrates hate groups to prevent dangerous attacks before they take place.

The show stars Jessica Chastain as the protagonist, who shares her title with the show. The real name of the woman hasn't been provided yet, likely because the character's identity is largely defined by the work she does. We will likely be told what her real name is once the show comes out, or maybe at the very end of the show.

The first look at the show features two images. The first one gives us the first look at Nnamdi Asomugha, Jessica Chastain, and Richard Grant in their respective roles in the show. Like Chastain, the name of Asomugha's character hasn't been revealed yet. Grant is playing John.

The second picture shows Chastain in her character, wearing casual clothes and glasses, focusing on something on a laptop or computer screen. It is likely a scene from when her character is trying to infiltrate a hate group and trying to prevent a potential attack.

In the first picture, Chastain is smiling at a social event, seated in between Asomugha and Grant, and she looks relaxed. But in the second picture, Chastain looks mysterious and focused, something a person often has to be and becomes if they do what The Savant does. Chastain also looks very simple, but the mystery of her character lingers in both images.

The cast of the show includes Jessica Chastain and Nnamdi Asomugha in the lead roles. The recurring cast includes Trinity Lee Shirley as Maeve, Michael Patrick Thornton as Gary, Richard Gant as John, Valentino Musumeci as Ben, Christina Bennett Lind as Ms. Malden, Lennon and Quinn Blue as Riley, Dagmara Dominczyk as Danielle, Domenic Innarella as Kyle Barber, and Kevin Tyler Rodriguez as a young man/ IAMOKAY1987.

Other recurring cast members include James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Michael Mosley, Jordana Spiro, Toussaint Francois Battiste, Hannah Gross, and David Wilson Barnes, among others.

The show has been created by Melissa James Gibson, who also executive produces along with Jessica Chastain, Jessica Giles, and Kelly Carmichael. Brian Madden has produced the show, and the production companies behind the show are Freckle Films, Fifth Season, Anonymous Content, and Apple Studios.

The Savant arrives on Apple TV+ on 26th September.
