Jessica Williams reveals the one major reason she is excited for Shrinking Season 3

Shrinking, the Apple TV+ comedy series, which received seven Emmy Nominations for its second season, is set to return for a third season. The show has been quite a success, starring Jason Segel as a therapist named Jimmy Laird, who, after his wife's demise, is grief-stricken. Due to his grief, he starts being brutally honest with his patient, blurring all ethical lines.

The third season of Shrinking has been filmed and will be released soon. Jessica Williams plays Gaby, who is Jimmy's colleague at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center in Shrinking. Williams spoke to Deadline about the one major reason she is excited for season 3 of Shrinking.

Jessica Williams on why she's excited for Shrinking season 3

Almost every other show has that one pair of friends who have great chemistry, engage in a s*xual relationship briefly and then end up in an awkward situation as they realize what they have done and don't know how to proceed. The same happened to Jimmy and Gaby.

In season one, Jimmy and Gaby hooked up, and while it didn't seem like a big deal back then, things got messy between them in season two. Besides, Derek soon became a romantic interest for Gaby and made her rethink her choices. Gaby and Jimmy also went back to being friends, but we never know, something romantic might just happen between them.

Now as season three approaches, the question is whether Gaby will ever consider Jimmy as a potential partner or focus on Derek. When the Deadline interviewer asked Williams whether viewers should expect development in Jimmy and Gaby's dynamic, and that they felt the characters shared chemistry, Williams responded,

"I know, right? It’s so funny because people do come up to me and they’re like, “What’s the deal with Jimmy and Gaby? No, Jimmy and Gaby or Yes, Jimmy and Gaby.” As if I were in any way involved in the process, I appreciate it. There’s nothing I can say other than it being a really funny relationship. I think people sleep together all the time, and it can either mean something or it doesn’t. But either way, I feel like this show is cool for sometimes having people sleep together or people not knowing what’s going to happen and either moving on or circling back."

She continues, revealing what she is most excited about for Shrinking season 3, saying,

"I do know what happens in Season 3, and I cannot wait for you guys to see it and talk about it. But all of this is something you need to take up with Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Jason Siegel. Not for little ol’ me who is currently an actor on the show. But I do understand needing to express that sentiment about them."

Jessica Williams has teased viewers pretty well with her revelation. However, her words can be interpreted in various ways. It could mean that Jimmy and Gaby become friends or further explore their attraction to each other. We won't know until Shrinking season 3 releases.
