Nobody Wants This Season 2 is just about a month away, and fans just got a little taste of what's coming straight from Justine Lupe herself. At the 2025 Emmy Awards, Lupe couldn't hide her excitement, telling Us Weekly.
"It's really fun."

Although she kept most of the exciting details under wraps, she did promise that the new season has everything fans loved about season one, along with plenty of new surprises. So, what exactly did she reveal at the Emmys? Let's break it all down.
Justine Lupe drops hints about Nobody Wants This Season 2
On Emmy night, Justine Lupe wasn't just making her red carpet debut in a Carolina Herrera gown, but she was also teasing what comes ahead in Nobody Wants This Season 2. Speaking to Us Weekly, she said;
"Our creators really leaned into, like, giving the people what they loved about it last season, and also stretching it into something new and exciting."

That short and sweet telling comment shows the writers aren't playing it safe this time, which is why being able to watch Season 2 makes it even more exciting.
Lupe, who plays Morgan, aka the blunt but lovable podcast cohost and sister to Kristen Bell's Joanne, has been with the show since day one. She admitted to Us Weekly that while she can't share major spoilers, the creative team is focused on pushing the story forward in a way that feels both familiar and daring. She even laughed that fans will "have to see" where Joanne and Morgan go next.
Nobody Wants This Season 2 officially finished filming earlier this year, and Lupe revealed at the BAFTA TV Tea the day before the Emmys that the new season drops October 23.
"We finished [and] we're coming out October 23rd," she told the outlet. "There's lots [that] I'm really excited [about]. I can't really say that much more. I hope you guys like it."
That release date means fans will have to wait roughly a month before jumping back into Joanne and Noah's unlikely love story.
Cameos, cast energy, and what’s next for Joanne and Noah
Nobody Wants This Season 2 isn't just sticking with the same formula, but it's adding new layers and faces. One of the most buzzed-about additions is Leighton Meester, the real-life wife of Adam Brody, who plays Noah.

Justine Lupe shared with Us Weekly how thrilled the cast was to have her on board.
"Leighton is awesome. She's so kind, she's so fun, and she's so funny, and them together on set, they're just so sweet together. They're a really great couple, so we were so excited to have her. I'm so happy she did it."
Meester herself reciprocated that joy when speaking with Entertainment Tonight on the Emmys carpet, calling her time on set.
"One of the most fun times [she's] ever had."
She is expected to play a parenting influencer who also happens to be Joanne's childhood nemesis, adding another hilarious obstacle to the mix. Of course, the core of Nobody Wants This Season 2 still revolves around Joanne and Noah.
Season one ended with them embracing their complicated yet undeniable romance. Costar Jackie Tohn, who plays Esther, has already hinted at more grounded "relationship-y stuff" coming their way. She told Us Weekly;
"I don't think it's going to be easy, but I think that they are going to have a relationship..."
That means season two might dig deeper into the everyday struggles that make love stories feel real.
With Justine Lupe hinting that Nobody Wants This Season 2 is "really fun," fans can expect a season that stays true to its roots from Season 1 while also having the courage to expand in a bigger and bolder way.
Between Kristen Bell and Adam Brody continuing their onscreen romance, Jackie Tohn promising more challenges, and Leighton Meester entering the chaotic mix, the October 23 release feels like an unmissable event. If season one was about falling in love, season two appears ready to test what it really means to stay in love.
