Pirie's breakthrough in the case reveals the truth about Cat's kidnapping in Karen Pirie Season 2

Karen begins the investigation with a new vigor after finding out about Mick’s involvement in the case. According to her, Mick honey-trapped Cat, knowing that she comes from riches. Kidnapping Cat would give him access to Cat’s father’s money. However, the case is not so simple. A flashback scene takes us back to the time when Mick was discussing his plan with Andy and asking him to join him.

On the other hand, Pirie goes to investigate Mick’s ex-wife, who is now married to a man named Tom with whom she was having an affair. She tells Pirie about Mick leaving her and that their marriage was over. Karen Pirie, Season 2, episode 2 keeps on getting more and more complicated with each passing moment. Pirie informs Jenny Prentice that Mick is involved in the kidnapping case, which completely shocks her.

The investigations take a different path when Pirie finds out that Tom received money from Mick and the address was in France. Pirie orders to bring a forensic team to ask them to draw how they would look now that years have passed. They also begin to investigate how Mick got so much money, leading them to investigate Cat’s financial statements. Pirie also investigates Fergus once again, but not much is revealed.

However, things take a turn when Pirie goes to investigate Bridget in prison. What Bridget reveals about the case truly shocks Pirie. She tells her that though Kevin was the first one who had come to her for the fake passports, one each for Andy, Mick, and himself, Andy came to pick up the passports and asked her to do passports for Cat and Adam as well, and to not tell Kevin about it.

Investigations at the cottage also made a breakthrough as it was revealed that Cat’s DNA was present in all the rooms, and Kevin was shot by someone of 5 feet 8 inches height. Pirie understands that it was Cat who killed Kevin, as it was her height, and that both Andy and Mick were taller. She understood that Cat was in on the kidnapping and it was all part of a bigger plan.

In a flashback scene, while Cat is speaking to Mick about Kevin bringing a gun and it not being safe, Kevin hears it all. He also hears Mick admitting that he does not trust Kevin. It is finally revealed that Mick did not honeytrap Cat, but that they were all in on it together. Later in Karen Pirie Season 2 episode 2, Pirie goes to Sir Broderick Grant to speak to him about Cat’s finances and asks him if she was trying to punish you.

As Mick stood against everything that Sir Broderick Grant stood for, it was the initial reason for their clash. She also tells him that Cat murdered Kevin and wanted to run away with Mick and start a new life with the ransom money that they would get from her father.

On the other hand, at the end of Karen Pirie Season 2 episode 2, Mint and Isla’s search leads them to casinos in France, where a major lead is found. It leads them to Andy and Mick. The cave excavation reveals a skeleton with a watch that belonged to Cat. Hence, it proved that she is not alive anymore, but Adam might still be alive.
