Karen Pirie Season 2 premiered in the UK in July this year and is now finally arriving in the US. The show is counted among the best British police dramas of recent times and is based on Val McDermid’s novel series.

Karen Pirie Season 2 is scheduled to be released on BritBox on Thursday, October 2, 2025, almost two and a half months after its UK premiere, which took place on July 20, 2025.

Keeping up with the previous installment, the second season will feature only three episodes, which will be released weekly on Thursdays. Hence, the second episode will come out on October 9, and the third and final episode will be dropped on October 16, 2025.

What to expect from Karen Pirie Season 2?

The show brings back Karen Pirie as she has to investigate another intriguing cold case. Pirie, who has become a Detective Inspector, has to solve the mystery of the disappearance of a heiress and her two-year-old baby, which happened in 1984. The duo has not been seen ever since, and the case has gone cold over the years with no culprits found.

When a dead body is found, it somehow connects to the kidnapping, and the case is reopened. Pirie then has to gather her team of detectives to find out what happened to the mother and son more than four decades ago. The official synopsis of the season reads:

“The 1984 case of Catriona and Adam Grant has confounded investigators and intrigued the public like no other. Catriona, the charming young heiress to a vast oil fortune, and her 2-year-old son Adam, were brutally kidnapped at gunpoint outside a fish and chip shop in Fife.”

“The ransom notes that followed stirred up an uncontrollable press storm, but when the culprits fell silent, the police faltered, and Catriona and Adam were never seen again. Now, a man’s body has been discovered with indisputable links to the original kidnapping.”
