Mark your calendar! King & Conqueror Episode 4, titled So Be It is all set to release this upcoming Sunday, August 7, 2025, on BBC One.

Starring James Norton as Harold Godwinson and GOT alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as William of Normandy, this series is based on the chaotic events that led to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Created by Michael Robert Johnson, the series premiered on August 24, 2025, and received mixed responses on both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes. Although the show isn't entirely historically accurate, it tries to take the viewers back to 11th-century England, during the Norman Conquest.

Previously in the show, we saw how political instability and betrayals forced William of Normandy and Harold, and the Godwins to escape to Flanders. As Harold prepared to attack London and rescue Edith from the clutches of Lady Emma, William schemes to eliminate King Henry of France.

The synopsis of King & Conqueror Episode 4, as per BBC One, reads,

"Crowned heads are endangered as Harold fights for his family’s rights and William tracks his royal foe."

King & Conqueror Episode 4, So Be It, will drop on BBC One on Sunday, September 7, 2025. It will air at 9:10 PM BST for UK viewers. Episode 3, titled Brothers, throws Harold into turmoil as he risks everything to rescue Edith, who has been taken as a prisoner during the scuffle with Mercians. A storm blocks his way. Sweyn and Tostig lend him support, while Count Baldwin of Flanders lends boats. Harold's return to Wessex is bloody, with Sweyn defying his orders and charging into chaos.

Upon his arrival, Harold comes to know that Edith has been sent to London upon Lady Emma's orders. Turns out, Earl Morcar, weary of Emma's tyranny, is ready to strike a deal with Harold in return for half of the royal treasury. He also received the support of Earl Siward of Northumbria. On the other hand, William faces Henry's threats and begins plotting rebellion, turning Baldwin into a pawn.


What to expect in King & Conqueror Episode 4?

In episode 4, the stakes are set to rise on every front. Expect betrayals, shifting loyalties, and the events that ultimately led to the Battle of Hastings. With the Earl's support, Harold is ready to attack London and save Edith, while William's schemes against Henry are put to the test.

Harold must balance family loyalty with his growing claim to power, and Godwin's favouritism towards Sweyn is set to create a divide among the brothers.
