King of the Hill Seasons 16 and 17 confirmed: Hulu renews the animated series for two more chapters

King of the Hill, the adult animated show, first aired on Fox from 1997 to 2009, and the last four episodes of Season 13 aired on First-run syndication. In August 2025, the show was revived by Hulu, and a 14th season was released on August 4, 2025.

The show was already confirmed to return for a 15th season, and now, as Variety reports, it has been renewed for two more seasons: Seasons 16 and 17.

King of the Hill renewed for two more seasons

King of the Hill returned to our screens fifteen years after Season 13 aired. Season 14 has been quite the success, currently having a Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%. King of the Hill Season 14 follows Hank Hill and his family returning to Arlen, Texas, from Saudi Arabia. The season's synopsis, according to Hulu, goes as,

After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas, to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.

Season 14 had been a highly anticipated season of the show, given that it was released more than a decade after Season 13. While Season 15 is set to be released in 2026, Seasons 16 and 17 getting renewed is great news not only for the cast and crew but also for the fans. Many fans have been watching the show since 1997, and might have lost hope of a revival along the way. But the show's revival, followed by three more seasons, is great news for them.

One might wonder why the creators chose to revive the show in 2025 specifically and how it fits into the current world scenario. As Saladin K. Patterson, a co-developer, said in an interview with Variety,

“Hank always represented such a commonsense, practical approach to cultural things and societal things,”

He continued,

“Whether it leaned left of middle or right of middle, it always was something that was respectful and made sense.”

The voice cast of King of the Hill includes Mike Judge as Hank Hill and Boomhauer, Kathy Najimy as Peggy Hill, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Tai Leclaire as Joseph Gribble, Toby Huss as Dale Gribble, Ronny Chieng as Kahn Souphanousinphone, Stephen Root as Bill Dauterive, Ashley Gardner as Nancy Gribble, and Lauren Tom as Connie Souphanousinphone and Lucky Kleinschmidt.

King of the Hill is developed by Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Saladin K. Patterson, who also executive produce the show along with Richard Appel, Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Jim Dauterive, Garland Testa, Howard Klein, Michael Rotenberg, and Dustin Davis. The production companies behind the show are Deedle-Dee Productions, Judgmental Films, 3 Arts Entertainment, Bandera Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Television, and 20th Television Animation.
