A docuseries about Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese premiered on October 17, 2025, on Apple TV. The five-part documentary titled Mr. Scorsese depicts his career and also provides glimpses of his personal life. It also has interviews with the veteran director's family, friends, and collaborators.
Furthermore, it also features an interview with Scorsese himself. The docuseries is directed by another popular Hollywood filmmaker, Rebecca Miller, the daughter of American Playwright Arthur Miller.
During an interview with CBS Mornings, Miller was asked how she convinced Martin Scorsese to appear in the docu-series. She shared that the director was aware of her filmography and had watched her movies and her previous documentary. So when she proposed the idea to his documentary-producing partner, he agreed to the interview. She said:
"I proposed it to his doc producer. She proposed it to him. He said yes because he knew my films. He knew my prior documentary and we took it from there."

Rebecca Miller's docuseries on Martin Scorsese will provide the most intimate look at the life of the legendary Hollywood director. It begins with his childhood, which he spent in the Little Italy neighborhood of lower Manhattan, to putting his step into Hollywood and giving us greater pieces of cinema that have influenced numerous filmmakers that came after him, and also introduced the viewers to more facets of storytelling.
The information shared in the docuseries titled Mr. Scorsese has been taken from Scorsese himself and features an exclusive interview with him. Miller revealed that she wanted to make the documentary with Martin Scorsese being the subject of it, and later, through his doc producer, got him on board. She further shared that before making the docuseries, she did not know Martin Scorsese very well, and later they became friends while making the docuseries. She stated:
"I didn't know him very well to start with. I knew him a little bit socially. I had met him on the set of Gangs of New York, and it was really an investigation. It was a feeling through the dark and we developed a kind of friendship over five years."
In the docuseries, Martin Scorsese talks at length about his life and the highs and lows of it, whether it was winning an Oscar Award or going through life's lowest points as he was dealing with drug abuse and depression. The docu-series also depicts how life and art combine in Scorsese's life as it gradually reveals how he incorporated his struggles into the movies he made.
Along with bringing Martin Scorsese on board for the docuseries on his life and career, Mr. Scorsese also features numerous interviews from other Hollywood legends who have also been friends with him for a long time. The list includes big names such as Robert De Niro, Steven Spielberg, and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others.
Apart from his professional life, the docuseries also features unseen facets of his personal life, such as interviews with his family and childhood friends with whom he was still in contact and who are an important part of his life.
