Wednesday Season 2 is upping the stakes, and this time, it’s got Lady Gaga written all over it. Not only is she joining the cast as the mysterious and magnetic Rosaline Rotwood, a Nevermore teacher, but she’s also blessing us with a brand-new original track titled Dead Dance. The songstress is set to release the song next month, right around when Wednesday Season 2 will premiere, raising the levels of excitement for her role on the show as both an actress and now as a singer.
Early last month, several outlets reported that Lady Gaga, who is currently headlining her blockbuster “Mayhem Ball” tour, was seen with Tim Burton, director and producer of the show, on the eerie Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, a haunted site south of Mexico City known for its decaying doll displays. The visit sparked speculation about her involvement in Wednesday Season 2. Sources later confirmed that Gaga’s new song Dead Dance was recorded with her “Mayhem” album collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut. At the show’s London premiere, Burton praised Gaga, calling their collaboration “inspirational” and hinting at the creative energy she brought to the world of Nevermore.
Speaking to Variety about the actress' involvement in Wednesday Season 2, Burton said,
“She’s such an artist and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational. But I felt that way about Joanna and Steve, who I’ve worked with before. These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.”
