Taylor Sheridan's plan to move to NBCUniversal has raised some big questions about his current shows. One of them is Landman, the western drama on Paramount+. However, Christian Wallace, co-creator of the show, has stated that Sheridan's leaving will not change much for their show now.

Sheridan has a deal with NBCUniversal that includes both movies and television. Regardless, Wallace believes Landman still has plenty of growth ahead. He said that they still have "a lot of runway" to tell many stories that they haven't yet.

Wallace also emphasized that Sheridan's role in creating the series is vital. He said that he believes Sheridan cares about the characters and that the show does too.

What did the co-creator of Landman, Wallace, and the cast actually say?

In interviews, Wallace was asked if Sheridan's exit from Paramount would hurt the show. He answered straight:

"I don’t think it’s affecting anything in the immediate. Right now, we’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing."

He added that under Sheridan's current contract, they can continue making Landman for years to come. Wallace explained that the world of their show is very big. There are many stories they can explore about land, oil, power, and risk. He said,

"We've barely skimmed the surface of what we can do and what we want to do. So I just think that there's a lot of runway left, and as long as there's a story to tell and people are there for it, I hope we get to keep telling it."

Some of the rest of the cast agree. Mark Collie, who plays a role in the show, told Screen Rant that he believes Landman will "just keep on rocking." He said that Sheridan will probably stay involved in some way, though maybe not in exactly the same way.

Even with Sheridan's new deal, he still has a contract with Paramount. That gives the team security for now. Christian Wallace pointed out that Sheridan's TV deal with Paramount runs through 2028, so their partnership is not ending soon.

Why Sheridan's move might not derail Landman?

Taylor Sheridan's decision to leave Paramount grabbed headlines because of how big his role is at the network. The deal he signed with NBCUniversal is huge. But many of his existing shows, including Landman, are expected to remain at Paramount.

One reason for this is the business structure. Sheridan's Paramount TV deal does not end until 2028. That means he is still tied to the company for several more years. Ownership matters too. The rights to Landman and other shows are held by Paramount, so even if Sheridan works elsewhere later, the show can stay where it is.

Wallace also noted that the show does not depend on Sheridan being there every moment. While Sheridan is a driving creative force, Wallace feels confident that the story world is strong enough to survive his eventual move.

There is also the question of cost and future planning. If Sheridan stays involved, even part-time, he could help guide its future direction. However, the team also seems prepared for change; if necessary, they can let other writers or showrunners step in.

Christian Wallace's comments suggest that the creators have built the show to be a long-term project, not just a two-season show. They see potential in many more stories than those shown so far.

Sheridan's move to NBCUniversal may open new doors for him personally, but for Landman, those doors may not change much right now. The show's narrative, about oil, land, and power, is big enough to survive big shifts behind the scenes. Wallace and the team seem ready to keep telling that story, no matter what.
