After Monty died, things have become a little chaotic in Landman Season 2 as Tommy has so much to deal with while also ensuring Cami is satisfied with the business. Since her husband died, she has been trying hard to express authority, and she even succeeded during the luncheon.

Landman Season 2 episode 2 recap: Cooper is overwhelmed by success unlike Ariana

Cooper in Landman Season 2 episode 2 looks nothing like the Cooper we saw in the first chapter of the Taylor Sheridan drama. He's become stronger and clever, and in this episode, he can be seen supervising one of his drilling locations.

However, one thing that hasn't changed is that Cooper wants to prove that he's also capable of working in the old fields just like Tommy. As he continues his work, Cooper barely finishes asking his team about their progress before a massive burst of oil shoots out of the ground, drenching him.

It’s another successful strike: one of many. But he doesn't immediately start celebrating and instead drives back home in the same condition as his partner Ariana, who has been panicking since Cooper didn't answer her calls. So, while Cooper was excited, Ariana was worried about him.

When he finally arrives, Ariana prepares to scold him, only to stop short when she sees the state he’s in. And when Cooper starts telling his beloved everything, he also mentions that every single spot he drilled has produced oil.

Though it's definitely a thing to celebrate in episode 2 of Landman Season 2, Cooper also knows that it's quite risky to drill without discreet planning. Too much success and at this speed also suggests dangers and unrealistic expectations.

Finally, Tommy's son realized that he had acted impulsively, skipped safety layers, and may have made a serious strategic mistake. And looking at how things are happening, Ariana gets worried about her and Miguel staying with Cooper.

Ariana gathers courage and while helping Cooer wash off the oil, she tells him that she might not be able to continue living with him. She has already experienced the trauma that comes with wealth and power and cannot afford to let it happen again with her and Miguel.

Tommy’s problems keep getting worse in Landman Season 2 episode 2

Tommy wakes up to a day that keeps throwing one crisis after another at him. On his way to his mother’s funeral in Lamesa, he gets an update from Boss: the Barlow Brothers have gone bankrupt.

Their land borders M-Tex, so Tommy tells Boss and Dale to check whether it’s worth buying, even though their equipment is outdated. Before he can think it through, Angela calls to check on him, and Cooper reaches out in a panic, asking for help. Tommy agrees to meet him later.

Then another major issue hits in episode 2 of Landman Season 2. Cami is being sued because a massive $420 million insurance payment meant to fund a new gas well that can’t be traced.

During a group call, Rebecca lays out the problem, and Tommy assigns tasks: Nathan must follow the money trail, and Rebecca has to delay the opposing side. Nathan and Rebecca argue about who should go to the meeting, but Tommy settles it, and Rebecca pulls rank. Angela and Ainsley unintentionally break the tension with their cheerful chatter.

At the same time, Angela and Ainsley end up in trouble after their aerobics class turns into a messy incident, and they get detained. Meanwhile, Rebecca performs so well against the other lawyers in episode 2 of Lanman Season 2 that they actually offer her a job, but she turns them down.

Landman Season 2 episode 2: A shocking reveal about Cooper’s financer & what it means for Tommy

Landman Season 2 episode 2 continues as Tommy and Cooper visit Prairie View to update Thomas about the funeral plans. Thomas, who was last seen in the premiere, is indeed the father of Tommy and the tough grandfather of Cooper.

And unlike typical families, their bonds are a little complicated. Tommy thinks about Thomas being abusive in the past and this could impact his family. However, Copper assures him that he has been a good father to him and Ainsley and shouldn't worry too much about this.

And now that Ariana has asked Cooper not to return, he decides to stay with his father for a while. Back at home, the brother-sister duo clash, and they argue a lot. This only stops when Nathan arrives with urgent news.

Nathan reveals something huge: the money behind Sonrisa. The company financing Cooper’s secret oil wells actually comes from a fund controlled by Gallino. This is the same dangerous man who once saved Tommy from Jimenez and warned that they might join hands someday.

Now the picture becomes clear. Gallino has quietly inserted himself into Cooper’s project so he can gain influence over Tommy. If Gallino controls Cooper’s wells, he has power over Tommy, giving him an entry into the Texas oil scene where he previously lacked control.

At the same time, Cami is aggressively pursuing the mystery behind the missing $420 million. Soon, Tommy understands the danger immediately. Cooper is caught up with a powerful criminal, and Tommy might be dragged into a partnership he never agreed to just to keep his son safe.
