What happened in Landman Season 2 episode 1: A quick recap
Episode 1 of Landman Season 2 is titled "Death and a Sunset" and starts with Tommy as the new leader of M-Tex and with a vision to steady the company after Monty's death. And right when he steps into the new role, Tommy faces pressure, especially from the cartel trying to push into the oil industry.

Surprisingly, Cami declares herself ready to fight like a predator in the oil world, which ultimately wins the room with her confidence. Meanwhile, Cooper hits a huge milestone when an oil well he discovered turns out to be far more successful than expected.
He shares this big news with Ariana, and meanwhile, his sister, and the only daughter of Tommy, also has her big day at TCU. At the end of Landman Season 2 episode 1, Tommy is shocked to learn that his mother has died.
