The power is gradually slipping from Tommy's hand at M-Tex in Landman Season 2, and things have been really hard since he came to know that even if the company falls apart, Dan and Cami would still be safe. Since Monty's death, Cami has been making risky choices about oil and gas projects.

While his professional life is met with constant challenges, Tommy finds peace with his family, especially after Thomas's return. Tommy didn't expect that the family members would get along after Thomas moved into the house, but the decision turned out to be good.

Landman Season 2 is about to end, with episode 9 already out. It focuses on Angela's struggle with Ainsley, Cooper's unexpected future, and also T.L.'s bond with Cheyenne, the exotic dancer who agreed to help Thomascope up with his emotional problems.

Finally, Landman Season 2 episode 9 focuses on how Angela struggles to deal with her daughter becoming more independent. Ainsley is attending a cheerleading-related program at a university, and while she herself is okay adjusting to dorm life, Angela completely falls apart emotionally.

She isn't concerned about the accommodation, but control over her daughter. When Ainsley was around Angela at the same house, she could control her. But now that she's ready to move to a dorm, Angela doesn't think this is a good idea.

And then, Angela does what she always does: goes shopping to find comfort. Ainsley finally starts a new life inside the dorm, but instead of getting along with her roommate, she finds her very different and immediately gets frustrated.

Ainsley leans on her mother, and Angela does nothing that's going to help Ainsley in the future. When she learned that Ainsley was struggling, she didn't just insult the roommate's way of life, but also looked down on the university and removed Ainsley entirely.

This way, episode 9 of Landman Season 2 explains that Angela and Ainsley are quite resistant to environments that challenge them. This attitude may eventually backfire, especially as Tommy’s own stability starts to fall.

As the episode continues, it also highlights Thomas's growing closeness with Cheyenne. She was hired to help the old man and give him some therapy, but episode 9 shows that they're getting too close now.

Thomas chooses spending time with her over joining his son’s work-related event, and their interactions move beyond routine therapy into emotional sharing. Cheyenne opens up about her past, her finances, her outlook on life, and even her real identity, making their bond feel more intimate.

Their bonds seem very complicated as there's a notable difference between Thomas and Cheyenne's ages. However, Landman is the show that's known for pushing boundaries.

And since Tommy wants his father to recover emotionally, he won't be able to question this bond between Thomas and Cheyenne. Everyone is trying to live their best life, and Thomas has spent a lot of time in isolation. So, he needs time and someone with whom he can share what's inside him.

At the end of Landman Season 2 episode 9, Cami fires Tommy. She had been relying on his advice for the M-Tex project, but since Dan's arrival and the increase in the company's problems, Cami thinks Toomy is too cautious and isn’t confident enough in her plan.

She wants to focus on making only profits out of every project and Tommy does not agree with her. As a result, Cami decides to let him go. This leaves Tommy out of the company’s plans moving forward.

Meanwhile, Cooper ends up making a risky decision at work. He wants to build a new oil well in a dangerous spot without checking with anyone else. He takes control of the project on his own, which could lead to problems if he’s wrong.

Ariana was attacked by a man who was both violently attacking her and racially motivated while she was working at Patch Cafe. Cooper intervened to defend her and was able to beat the man to the point that it could have resulted in death.

The police were subsequently called, and it was possibly Cooper would be arrested. As the episode concludes, Cooper's future looks uncertain. He may go to prison, which would destroy both his personal life and career within the oil industry. Furthermore, because Tommy is not associated with M-Tex anymore in Landman Season 2, neither he nor Cooper has a source of support from the company.
