The Landman star, Billy Bob Thornton, plays Tommy Norris, the titular Landman for a West Texas oil firm. Since the first season's premiere in November 2024, the show has become one of the most prominent American dramas for Paramount+, leading to a renewal for the Taylor Sheridan drama.
As it turns out, apart from the drama and the family tension involved in the crude oil fields of West Texas, the one thing that helped the season garner its massive viewership was the incredibly thematic soundtrack. The soundtrack for the first season brought together elements of rock, country music, and, of course, Americana.
The thematic soundtrack, being an important part of the narrative, is set to be followed into the second season as well, which will premiere in November 2025. Additionally, actor Billy Bob Thornton is revealed to have played an important role in the song production process for the record-breaking drama.

Actor Billy Bob Thornton's contribution to the Landman Season 2 official soundtrack
Landman Season 2 is mere months away from release, and as we anticipate the release, Paramount+ is amping up the excitement with the release of a new soundtrack. This soundtrack, set to release on September 26, includes songs from the drama, as well as ones inspired by it.

According to Entertainment Weekly, actors Billy Bob Thornton and Mark Collie (local Sheriff Walt Joeberg) have several credits to their names in the new soundtrack. The actors (and musicians), it appears, wrote and produced several songs together while filming the two seasons of Landman.
The soundtrack is titled Landman - Songs From and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume I). It features an eclectic mix of rock, Americana, and country music, with the most prolific artists of the country credited for its creation.
In the fifteen songs that make up the soundtrack, Thornton and Collie have credits to their names for five songs.
They have earned credits as writers for two of the five songs, namely "She'll Dance For Whiskey" alongside Parker McCollum, as well as "Livin' It Up in Texas" with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top Fame.
Further, along with writers, they've also been credited as composers for two more songs, namely "That's What Lonely People Do" and "Blood for Black Gold."
Finally, Collie and Thornton have been credited as sole writers for the track "Midland After Midnight." The song has been performed by the band Flatland Cavalry on the record.
Thornton had previously spoken about these songs back in September 2024 during press for the first season's release, unsure if they would see the light of day, and now they'll be officially released as a record!
"We wrote a couple of songs [that] were kind of inspired by the area, that business world. We'll see if they end up on anything. And maybe they will, maybe they won't, but they're at least there."
It will be interesting to witness the exceptional actor's contribution to the thematic soundtrack of Landman ahead of the anticipated Season 2 release.
