Reports from numerous verified sources suggested that Taylor Sheridan, the mind behind the hit Yellowstone franchise, was set to leave the Paramount+ network and would be joining NBCUniversal. The news was shocking for fans, who wondered why the creator behind some of the network's most successful shows was leaving.

This news also led to a lot of confusion regarding the future of the creator's shows at the Paramount+ network. One of these shows was Landman, slated for the sophomore season's release in a day. However, recent comments from the creatives and the cast behind the show signal that there is no need for worry regarding the Western drama's future.

In a recent conversation with ExtraTV, Sam Elliott, who plays Tommy Norris' father on Landman, expressed his excitement for filming the third season of the show. He explained that even though Season 2 was yet to be released, it was a thing of the past for them, as they were already looking forward to the third season's filming schedule:

"I'm excited to see what unfolds in [Landman] season 3. I mean, we're talking about season 2, but that's backstory for us at this point. We're all kind of looking toward to April and May when we start shooting season 3."

The filming schedule, as revealed by Sam Elliott, is especially surprising considering the Paramount+ network is yet to renew the show for a third season. These comments, however, might mean that the renewal is just a formality at this point.

After news of Sheridan's exit from Paramount+, co-creator Christian Wallace confirmed that Landman was prepared to continue without Sheridan's presence as well. He explained that there are many stories left to be told in this world and that the characters also have a lot of space left to grow, making the future of Landman secure in terms of runway and storytelling:

"The thing about this show is there are so many ways that this can go, and the world is so vast and big. It’s full of stories, and so far we’re two seasons in and we’ve barely skimmed the surface of what we can do and what we want to do. So I just think that there’s a lot of runway left, and as long as there’s a story to tell and people are there for it, I hope we get to keep telling it."

So, even though creator Taylor Sheridan might be marking an exit from the Paramount+ network, Landman has no such plans and has a long future of storytelling in store for it as long as the audience wishes so.
