Last Summer ending explained: Ha-gyeong and Do-ha's relationship takes an emotional turn

Last Summer is finally at an end. The ending of the series truly left a heartwarming touch behind. It cannot be denied that from the beginning of the series, the aspect of emotional turbulence, along with complicated relationships amongst the characters, created intrigue towards the storyline. Each episode brought forth the steady development in the relationship between Do-ha and Ha-gyeong.

Ha-gyeong and Do-ha's relationship takes an emotional turn in Last Summer ending

Last Summer episode 12 begins with Ha-gyeong and Do-ha preparing to celebrate their time together. The time they spent together eventually created a unique bond between them. It made them want to spend more and more time together. Their presence creates an impact on the other person’s life. They are indeed happier together.

As this episode of Last Summer progresses, Ha-gyeong and Do-ha begin to discuss Do-ha’s birthday. However, Ha-gyeong forgets the exact date of Do-ha’s birthday. This causes him to be completely devastated about it. Ha-gyeong, however, does not back down.

She keeps trying to make him happy. She then begins to think about throwing a great birthday party for him. She decides to call people close to Do-ha to know about his likes and dislikes, but her plan is not successful, as none of them are able to give her any proper idea.

On the day of Do-ha’s birthday, Ha-gyeong books a hotel to celebrate. Right at the moment they leave their house to reach the hotel, Do-ha’s parents arrive. As Ha-gyeong called them to ask about Do-ha’s likes, they understood that they also needed to spend time with their son. Their arrival ruins Ha-gyeong’s plans to celebrate Do-ha’s birthday.

Both of them get quite disappointed. However, as they spend time together, they are happy that they are together. Both Ha-gyeong and Do-ha begin to reminisce about the way they have changed through the years, along with the change in the house. Ha-gyeong’s father also comes to their house. Ha-gyeong and her father share some quality time together as her father tells her about the things he bought every time he missed her.

As this episode of Last Summer progresses, things get a bit complicated between Do-ha and Ha-gyeong. After returning from work, Do-ha finds a picture of a baby on their bedstand. He gets excited thinking that Ha-gyeong is pregnant. He begins to take extra care of Ha-gyeong, cooking her three-course meals so that she is healthy. His happiness is also reflected in his work, where his colleagues are quite surprised at his behavior.

However, at the end of the episode, it is revealed that the baby picture was not of Ha-gyeong but of Lee Seul and Seong-taek. Lee Seul and Seung-taek eventually get back to one another and decide to get married. Hearing that they are back together, Do-ha tells them that he also wants to get married to Ha-gyeong.

He even suggests that they all should get married on the same day. Lee Seul and Seung-taek do not agree, and they then decide to get married at Do-ha and Ha-gyeong’s house. The episode ends with a heartwarming note, with Do-ha and Ha-gyeong’s relationship developing in a positive direction.
