Law & Order Season 25 Episode 1: A quick recap

Law & Order Season 25 picked up from last season's cliffhanger. ADA Samantha Maroun faced the fallout after her sister's alleged murderer, Carter Mill, was found dead. Even though Maroun had strong motives for killing him, the truth proved it to be more complicated.

When Maroun's own gun went missing, it fueled suspicion. Later, she admitted that she intended only to confront Carter Mills and not kill him. However, she confessed that she was too scared and she threw her gun into the river.

As evidence mounted, investigators zeroed in on Carter's ex, Julia. Turns out the couple broke up a few days before his verdict, and Julia purchased a gun from Pennsylvania. During the trial, she revealed that she killed Carter on the grounds of self-defense. Maroun pushed for a first-degree manslaughter charge.

The episode concluded with a chilling twist: Julia admitted to Maroun that the act had been premeditated. However, Maroun decided to move forward with the plea, keeping Julia's confession under wraps.

Tense, layered, and morally gray, the premiere balances the courtroom strategy with personal stakes. Carter Mill's murder case set a high bar for Season 25's drama, leaving viewers eager for the upcoming episodes.
