What happened in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 Episode 5?
In Episode 5 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27, the SVU unit had to deal with a strange case of Natalie Tanzillo. Apparently, she was in active labor and was kidnapped. But when the team found her and brought her to the hospital, the doctors revealed that Natalie wasn't pregnant.
Benson thought it was due to the trauma that Natalie had endured as a result of an assault, which made her think she was pregnant. Natalie revealed to them that she was being stalked by her r*pist whom she met at her workplace. However, Rollins found out that she hadn't worked in the last two years.
Later, they thought she might have met the perpetrator during her volunteering work in the charity. However, when they met her former supervisor, he revealed to them how she was difficult to work with as she used to come up with fake illnesses all the time. The biggest clue that they could find about Natalie was through tracking down the person who gifted her a customized onesie for her baby.
The person was found to be Natalie's former doula. She revealed to the SVU team that Natalie was not a s*xual assault victim but a predator. She found a way to get women alone with her and make them uncomfortable with her s*xual activities in a way that they couldn't even report her.
Through a message board for doulas, the team learned that Natalie had victimized around 30 doulas. Benson then strategically made Natalie confess to all her lies. Later, in the court, ADA Carisi helped bring the truth about Natalie to the front and forced her to take a plea deal and sent her behind bars.
