Timothy Bustfield’s criminal charges leads to the cancellation of Law & Order: SVU Season 27 Episode 10

The main reason episode 10 of Law & Order: SVU Season 27 was cancelled by NBC because Timothy Busfield had been recently charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse. During The Cleaning Lady series, where Timothy Busfield is one of the show’s executive producers, along with being one of the directors, he was accused of behaving inappropriately towards two of the other male child stars of the series.

After this incident, prompt action was taken with a warrant being issued on January 9, 2026. It cannot be denied that the context of Law & Order: SVU, where the main focus is on dealing with crime and bringing justice, bringing in Timothy Bustfield with criminal charges in this manner would affect the show. If Busfield is found guilty of the criminal charges that are against him, then he would be sentenced to prison for at least three years.

A statement about Busfield’s actions was also released by Warner Bros., where they indicated the utmost priority they have towards “safety of minors”. They have also added that they are going to “thoroughly investigate” and “take appropriate action”. Another sexual assault allegation was also brought forth against Busfield from a 17-year-old female extra from the movie Little Big League.

The lawsuit was settled by Busfield along with the separate countersuit against the woman’s lawyers for defamation. Timothy Busfield’s connection with the Law & Order franchise has been quite long. He even directed two SVU episodes of Season 20, along with one episode from Season 22 of Law & Order.

Law & Order: SVU Season 27 Episode 10 would have brought life to the investigation of a case of abuse. Timothy Busfield took on the character of a judge in the tenth episode of Season 27 as a guest appearance. However, now NBC has cancelled this episode of Law & Order: SVU Season 27. A different episode will be aired in its place.

As Episode 10 is not airing on January 15, the episode titled “Fidelis Ad Mortem” will now air in place of Episode 10. The title of this episode is “Fidelis Ad Mortem”. This episode was previously set to air on January 22. The cancellation became the reason for the change of the schedule of the episodes.
