Law and The City is gradually becoming one of this year's most intricate K-dramas. It appears to be about attorneys and court cases. Though it's actually about people juggling ambition, regrets, and second chances.

Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji, whose previous relationship still influences their collaboration, are the focus of the show. Their emotions come through even when they make an effort to act professionally, whether it's in an unplanned confrontation or a silent moment.

In Episodes 5 and 6, we see that the team’s legal work is deeply tied to real, emotional cases, from workplace abuse to media trials. Each case forces the lawyers to confront their own values and biases, often making them reflect on their own lives.

But what keeps viewers hooked is the unspoken tension between Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji. Their personal history isn’t just backstory. It shapes the entire atmosphere of the firm. And now, things are clearly heading somewhere deeper.

Law and The City Episode 5 begins with Ju-hyeong finally making peace with his past as he and Su-jeong share a final, honest conversation. He remains calm and kind, wishing her well despite how things ended. The next day, Hee-ji admits she asked Su-jeong to leave, worried about Ju-hyeong’s emotional state.

Their conversation ends sweetly as Ju-hyeong gives her snacks. Meanwhile, the team enjoys a light-hearted moment during lunch when Chang-won jokes about Sang-gi’s surprisingly large bank balance.

It's also revealed that Chang-won’s wealth came from a family project tied to the Hangkuk Group. But the mood shifts when new cases begin: Ju-hyeong helps a teacher wrongly accused of assaulting students. He investigates the matter with Mun-jeong and uncovers the truth through social media.

As for Hee-ji, she has another case, a young man accused of theft, who can’t remember the night in question due to drinking. She tirelessly tries to find better CCTV footage and slowly builds trust with a restaurant owner who might help.

Eventually, with Chang-won’s help, she gets the footage. It reveals that the boy took something by mistake. But instead of giving up, Hee-ji encourages him to be honest and take responsibility so he can move forward.

Meanwhile, Mu-jeong struggles to keep her pregnancy a secret after being shaken by her husband's offhand comment. Later in Law and The City Episode 5, Chang-won faces humiliation during a client visit to prison but finds unexpected warmth in his bond with Hee-ji. As she shares her past about losing her parents, Chang-won starts developing feelings for her.

At the end of the episode, Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji grow closer, while a stressed Mun-jeong heads to court, still hiding her pregnancy. Just as things calm down, an anonymous post accuses Sang-gi and other top students of getting special favors.

Law and The City Episode 6 recap: When justice becomes personal

In episode 6 of Law and The City, Ju-hyeong seems distracted, while Sang-gi’s recent controversy looms over the team. Their latest case involves a whistleblower, Kang Chang-jun, fired after exposing violence in his workplace.

Hee-ji and Ju-hyeong look into it, but they run into problems: important witnesses don't want to help, and things get heated when they confront the accused. Hee-ji and Ju-hyeong later have a quiet dinner together following a club visit, during which he discovers she is still wearing their previous couple bracelet and rekindled feelings.

Mun-jeong struggles with her pregnancy in private and becomes aloof at work. As the case goes to trial, Lee Dong-su's animosity suggests that he may be concealing more than he acknowledges. A crowd of reporters confronts Sang-gi outside the courtroom.

He later confesses in a heartfelt letter that he’s wrongly accused of receiving privileged benefits, blaming mistaken identity. That night, he eats silently at his mom’s restaurant, grief barely concealed. His isolation contrasts with the warmth slowly returning among his colleagues.

Mun-jeong finally confirms her pregnancy, though a dropped call with her husband initially disheartens her. He surprises her outside the office in tears, and the two quietly reconcile. At the same time, Sang-gi brings Chang-won to his mother’s restaurant.

Law and The City episode 6 closes with Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji reconnecting over dinner. Flashbacks of their old romance suggest deeper feelings still linger. The team begins to close emotional distances, even as their legal battles remain ongoing.
