Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is currently under production as we get closer to the premiere of Season 2. In Season 2, Annabeth, Percy, Tyson, and Clarisse set out into the Sea of Monsters to look for the Golden Fleece and to rescue Percy's best friend Grover.

While Leah Sava Jeffries, who plays Annabeth Chase in the Disney+ show has a significant role in Season 2, the same isn't the case for Season 3. As Jeffries told Deadline, she won't be seen much in Season 3, and also shared the reason why.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3

In Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians novel series, Annabeth Chase is the daughter of Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and battle strategy and Frederick Chase. She is an important character in the novel series, who was first Percy Jackson's friend and later became his girlfriend. Leah Sava Jeffries has been playing Annabeth Chase in the show and will be reprising the role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 as well, but her role will be limited.

At the World Premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, when Leah Sava Jeffries was asked by Deadline what viewers should get excited for about Season 3, which the cast and crew are currently filming, Jeffries said,

"I just have to say episode 1 just because that's all I've filmed. I'm gone. I'm not there, you know what I mean? I'm not-If you read the book, Annabeth is not really there."

As Jeffries said, since the show is adapting The Titan's Curse for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, which is the novel right after Season of Monsters, Annabeth isn't in it too much. It's not that she stops being a significant character in the books, but she is missing from most of the action because she gets kidnapped and is not with Percy and the rest of their friends. The book focuses on how Percy and his friends rescue Annabeth and Artemis after they get kidnapped by the Titan, Atlas. Thus, it makes sense that we won't be seeing Jeffries too much on screen, but she will most definitely be a very important part of the storyline.

When the interviewer followed up her first question by asking whether it's weird not to have a lot of parts in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, Leah Sava Jeffries said,

"It is, but at the same time it feels like I'm kind of on a break right now, and let me tell you a little quick thing, remember the huge strike, like the huge break that happened? It was a year long. Then when there was no strike, and we were filming Season 2, and then four months later Season 3, it really didn't like I stopped filming. So kind of right now, this break is making up for the other time. So that's what it really feels like."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on December 10, 2025, and the episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays till January 21, 2026. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is in production.
