Leanne cast, release details, and more
The show is going to explore something that hasn't been done much before: having to move on at an age where you never expected you would have to. The show comes out on Netflix on 31st July 2025. It stars Leanne Morgan in the titular role, and Morgan said to Tudum by Netflix how much of a dream project the show is for her. She said,
“I can’t believe it has come true!”
“When I started comedy 25 years ago, my goal was to be a part of a sitcom. It just goes to show you it’s never too late, and dreams do come true. I’m a grandmama from Tennessee, and now I have a TV show with Chuck Lorre and Netflix. What in the world!?”

Even Chuck Lorre, who co-created the show and whose company, Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., is one of the companies producing the show, told Tudum by Netflix,
“If you’ve seen even 10 seconds of Leanne Morgan’s stand-up, then you know what a unique comedic force she is. The theme of starting over is universal, and I cannot think of anyone better to combine heart and comedy than Leanne. I knew I had to work with her, and I’m so excited to bring this story to Netflix.”
Other than the titular character, Kristen Johnston plays Leanne's sister Carol, Graham Rogers plays Tyler, her son, and Hannah Pilkes plays her daughter, Josie. Ryan Stiles stars as Bill, Leanne's ex-husband, and Celia Weston stars as Mama Margaret, Leanne's mother. Blake Clark plays Daddy John, Margaret's husband.

Other than Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., the show has been produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Chuck Lorre, Susan McMartin, Nick Bakay, Leanne Morgan, and Judi Marmel serving as executive producers.
Leanne Morgan described the titular character to Tudum by saying,
''Leanne uses humor to cope,”
“Sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying. She leans on her support system — her family, close friends, and church community — to get through it.”

Speaking about her experience creating a sitcom, she said,
“This is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl, and it was just as exciting as I imagined,”
“Learning a new medium was definitely a challenge — memorizing new scripts every week was totally new for me — but I loved it. As a stand-up, the comedic timing felt natural, and filming in front of a live audience was especially comfortable. By the end of the season, it really felt like home.”
Leanne arrives on Netflix on 30th July 2025.
