Fans have been eagerly waiting for official updates on Lioness Season 3, and while it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, one of the main stars, Zoe Saldaña, previously mentioned that she signed on for at least three seasons, which suggests the third installment is going to happen.

The official synopsis of Lioness, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, reads,

“Joe attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror.”

Given the success of the first two seasons, the update on Lioness Season 3 has been taking quite a while. However, with a high-profile cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldaña, and Morgan Freeman, coordinating schedules can be difficult, which might explain the delay in announcing the next season.

Lioness Season 3 has not yet been officially renewed

As mentioned earlier, Paramount+ has not yet announced Lioness Season 3. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show is a perfect blend of action and drama, and it's no surprise that it was so popular with audiences during its first two seasons.

Season 2 of the series raised the stakes by involving the Mexican cartel and kidnapping US Congress members. With the way things ended in the last season, season 3 has to be the most intense installment so far.

Talking about the next season of Lioness, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Zoe Saldaña, who plays Joe said,

“I signed up for three seasons at least, and so you do have a sort of contractual obligation to fulfill, but Lioness isn’t that only. Lioness has been a journey that has given me the opportunity to collaborate with a different type of filmmaker.”

She further added,

“Taylor Sheridan is sort of like this cowboy that lives on his own off the grid, and that makes a lot of us curious. Either you get the cadence of his writing and the themes that he wants to always talk about, or you don’t.”

The actor has subtly indicated that season 3 will happen, and although there’s no official confirmation, fans should stay hopeful. The plot and number of episodes in the third season have not been disclosed yet, but such details are expected to be announced along with the official confirmation of Lioness Season 3.

Lioness can be streamed on Paramount+.
