CBS is expanding the Yellowstone universe with a new series, Y: Marshals. The upcoming drama will follow Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, as he moves on from his family’s legacy and ranch. Joining Grimes in a lead role is Logan Marshall-Green, who will play Pete Calvin, a close friend from Kayce’s Navy SEAL days.

Set to debut in the middle of the 2025-2026 TV season, Y: Marshals will blend western drama with the reality of law enforcement. The show is expected to portray a storyline with emotional depth, action, and a fresh perspective in the world of Yellowstone.

Kayce's story after Yellowstone continues in Y: Marshals

The Yellowstone finale ended with significant changes for the Dutton family. Their family ranch was handed over to the Broken Rock Reservation, with tribal leaders promising it would never be sold or split. This decision marked the end to the Duttons’ hold on the land.

John Dutton was buried on the ranch, and Beth took vengeance by killing her adopted brother, Jamie. As the family went their different ways, Rip and Beth relocated to Dillon. Meanwhile, Kayce, Monica, and their son Tate began a new life together in a part of the ranch previously owned by the Duttons that Kayce bought from Thomas Rainwater, looking ahead to a less violent future.

Now, Y: Marshals picks up with Kayce leaving behind the ranch life for something even more dangerous. According to Variety, the series logline for Y: Marshals reads:

“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

Logan Marshall-Green will play Pete Calvin, described as a longtime friend from Kayce’s Navy SEAL days. His character is expected to bring both strength and experience to the team, while also offering insights into Kayce’s past life.

Logan Marshall-Green is best known for his roles in Upgrade, Redeeming Love, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. He has also appeared in Snowden, The Invitation, and the Netflix miniseries When They See Us, and most recently as Adam in And Just Like That season three. He’ll soon be seen in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, set to be released in 2026.

Y: Marshals has been executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Luke Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox. The showrunner and writer for the show is Spencer Hudnut, and Greg Yaitanes will direct the premiere episode.

The series is being produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with distribution handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution. CBS has given the show a 13-episode order, with plans to air it on Sunday nights.

Y: Marshals will carry forward the legacy of Yellowstone, but with a new direction. As Kayce steps into a world filled with danger and duty, fans will likely see a blend of western storytelling and modern justice.
