Looks like we now know what happened to the hood in Ironheart

The last scene of the Ironheart finale sees the return of Riri's best friend Natalie, who died in a gun violence incident. Her resurrection is because of Riri's deal with Mephisto. However, we can see her armor in the same background, and its back is adorned with Parker Robbins' hood. It should be noted that the hood was given to Parker by none other than Mephisto as a part of the former's deal.

However, in the final act of the finale, Riri meets Mephisto as played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who even reveals himself to her. Moreover, satan even goes to offer Riri a new deal, which is probably to resurrect a human Natalie, who passed away before the events of the Ironheart series, and possibly even Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Why is the Ironheart armor adorned with Mephisto's hood?

Ironheart closes with a shot of scars (much like those on Parker's body) spreading on Riri's body. This sets up Riri on a darker path, and this is possibly embodied by the hood behind the armor. It also hints that Riri has a long way to go to become a hero in the MCU, as she might have a monstrous form much like Parker did in his fight with Riri in the Ironheart finale.

However, the most interesting reveal was that Mephisto was not originally intended to be the big bad in the six-episode miniseries. This was revealed by showrunner Chinaka Hodge herself in a recent Collider interview. However, she did not reveal who was going to be the original antagonist. Hodge's exact words were:

"Everything that we did in the writers’ room was a collaborative decision that then got run up the flagpole to who we call “The Trio,” who are Kevin Feige, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Louis D’Esposito, who owes me a basketball game, by the way. We ran up our ideas for who the big bad should be in the show, and collaboratively, like most of the things in the writers’ room, we exited with Mephisto. We came in with a different big bad, but Mephisto was a plus from our executives."

However, the highlight of the interview was when Ryan Coogler addressed Riri's deal with Mephisto in the miniseries' finale.

Coogler describes Riri's deal with Mephisto in the Ironheart finale as a sacrifice:

In the same Collider interview, Ryan Coogler revealed that he liked Riri's decision to make a deal with the literal deviland that it was an informed one. When Chinaka Hodge asked Coogler what he meant, Coogler responded:

"It’s an informed decision. She sees Hood at his worst, she sees what the deal with this guy looks like, and she still does it for a friend. You learn just how much she loves this person. It’s one of the more interesting things we've seen somebody doing in the MCU, and that's hard because there have been a lot of these, a lot of movies, a lot of shows. It’s a very interesting form of sacrifice that can only happen in this story with these characters, so I thought it was a great way to introduce an incredibly powerful character from publishing, because you meet Mephisto via this deal, which I think is really cool."

Did you notice this small detail in the Ironheart finale?
