The cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 was interviewed a few weeks ago by ScreenRant's Liam Crowley. In that interview, the main trio spoke about what we can expect from their respective characters. One of the surprising reveals (if you did not read the second book, that is) was that one character from the main trio is separated, Grover Underwood.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will be adapting the second book in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series of novels, The Sea of Monsters. At the beginning of that novel, we learn that Grover has gone missing. Percy, in this book, breaks Camp Half-Blood's rules and leaves its ground to rescue Grover, while his camp rival and fellow half blood, Clarisse La Rue (Ares's daughter), is given the quest.
Both Percy and Clarisse are on a race against time to achieve their respective goals, teasing a suspenseful Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.
Aryan Simhadri discusses Grover in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2:
Aryan Simhadri, Leah Jeffries, and Walker Scobell appeared in the Screen Rant interview together. There, the three actors told Liam Crowley what to expect from their respective characters in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. The first to reveal was Aryan, who teased that Grover will have to step up to a more leadership role this season because he is completely isolated from his friends.
The actor's exact words were:
"I think the most development happened, oddly enough, when I was alone. Also, just personally, I was genuinely just alone in there. My filming schedule was different from everybody. He's forced to take care of himself, and he's in a situation that's so personal to him. It's like seeing Uncle Ferdinand in Medusa's cave, but just 10 times worse, and so he's forced to step up and take this leadership role that he's not really used to as a protector. It was an interesting new dynamic."
The concluding minutes of the season 1 finale set up Grover's character arc in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 as he tells Annabeth and Percy that he got his searcher's license to search for Pan, who is the missing God of nature. But somewhere after the events of the first book, but before those of the second one, Grover is taken hostage by the cyclops Polyphemus.
Aryan was not the only one who had interesting teases for though. Even Walker Scobell teased a more responsible Percy.
Walker Scobell teased that Percy will step up as a guardian in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2:
Scobell, the actor who plays the titular character, revealed that Percy, this season, will take inspiration from his mother, Sally Jackson, and take on a more paternal role for his Cyclops half-brother Tyson, who is also the son of Poseidon. The actor's exact words were:
"I think from the very beginning, basically the first scene, you see Sally treating Tyson the same way that you kind see her treating Percy in the first season. When we get to Camp Half-Blood, things are weird because I have to be [Tyson's] mom, I guess, or his big brother to take care of him. I'm his guardian, and so I have to take care of him, and so I have to get that through my head. I treat him a little differently at the start."
The part of Percy treating Tyson a bit differently is accurate to the book, because Percy is initially a bit embarrassed when Poseidon claims Tyson. That's the case until the midpoint of the novel, where the reader believes that Tyson perished and Percy feels guilty.
