Loot Season 3 Episode 9 recap: Arthur struggles after his breakup with Molly

Apple TV's Loot Season 3 is gearing up for its finale week. The penultimate episode of the season, titled “Slide,” follows Molly and Arthur dealing with their breakup. While Molly moves on as she gets into a relationship with Mr. Maro Gold, Arthur struggles with his breakup as Nicholas and Howard console him. Episode 9 of Loot Season 3 begins with Ashlee Kate in a bright pink suit, drinking an energy drink and blasting music in a Tesla Cybertruck.

She pulls over and sees a billboard with a boycott mark on the billionaire’s face. She throws her can, rushes to her car, and sets a reminder,

"Drag Molly Wells to Hell!"

Turns out, Ashlee’s guess was right; it was Molly indeed. She discusses her strategy with Sofia, Wells Foundation executive director.

Sofia asks her about her breakup, but it seems like Molly is handling it well—except she gives some bizarre reasons when Sofia asks why they broke up. Anyway, the scene shifts to Maro interrupting their conversation. It gets awkward for his antics, but Molly covers it up. Sofia cheers her up as Molly tells her it’s okay for an older woman to date a younger guy.

Loot Season 3 Episode 9 recap: Nicholas and Howard cheer Arthur while Molly spends time with Maro

In the office, Howard tells Nicholas that Arthur is not being himself, while Nicholas tries to brush it off. Howard insists that they should cheer him up. Nicholas and Howard’s interactions are hilarious. They meet Arthur in his home, and we learn he isn’t doing that great. In short, he has lost completely. His living room’s a complete mess. He tells Nicholas and Howard that he’s trying to find out the exact moment in his life when he became a pathetic, dumpable loser.

Meanwhile, Maro compliments Molly and gifts her an origami that looks like crumbled paper, and he spends two hours on it. When Molly asks about his evening plans, he tells her that he wants to invite his friends over. Molly agrees, but she’s not too comfortable with it. I mean, a party on a Wednesday night is hectic. But Maro’s too sweet, and Molly tries too hard to fit in.

Loot Season 3 Episode 9 recap: Molly finds it hard to connect with Maro's friend.

Back at Molly’s home, Maro’s friends come over. Even though they are sweet and respectful, Molly finds it hard to connect with them. For instance, when she learns about their jobs (bed rott influencer and brand reverence moment creator), she looks pretty confused. The sequence screams generation gap. Molly’s clearly bored. Zoe initiates a conversation with her, but her lingos are too Gen Z–coded for Molly to understand. Anyway, she tells her how she’s confused between two guys, and Molly advises her.

It seems like Molly's self-reflecting, and she's realizing that Maro isn't a good choice. Maro and his friends leave for a party. While Molly goes through Arthur's things. Molly sniffs his shampoo (yes, the one she was dissing about in the morning to Sophia). She wears Arthur's khaki pants and shirt. But Maro interrupts her thoughts, and she goes to sleep.

Arthur has a tough time coping with his breakup

Back at Arthur’s home, Nicholas and Howard listen to Arthur’s yapping about his past. Arthur regrets being a boring guy, and he now wants to do some drugs. Nicholas and Howard try to help him with a fake drug called Verse. It’s actually some of Molly’s probiotics for pre-menopause. Arthur runs outside, and Howard and Nicholas chase him down the streets. Arthur panics as he thinks he’s high on drugs. But Howard points out that it’s not the drugs, it’s in his head. Angry and disappointed, Arthur asks them to leave.

In the morning, Arthur apologizes to them for his behaviour. It seems like he’s back to his old self.

Ashlee Kate strikes

Soon, the office is filled with FBI agents taking out boxes from Molly’s office. When she enters her van, she finds Ashlee Kate lounging in Molly’s office chair. When a totally confused Molly asks about what’s happening, Ashlee reveals that she and John are getting married. She weirdly calls John’s company her children. She further reveals that John is friends with the president, so now she can do whatever she wants to. Ashlee tells her that Molly’s foundation is engaged in criminal activities and gives her some absurd reasons.
