Love is Blind: Anton talks about his “excessive drinking” on the show 

Love Is Blind Season 9 caused several arguments among fans, but few scenes received as much attention as Anton's drinking habits during the experiment. The Netflix dating program, known for its concept in which individuals form emotional connections without meeting in person, has frequently examined relationships. This time, it was Anton and Ali's engagement that drew attention, especially after numerous disagreements about his alcohol intake.

Viewers saw tensions rise when Ali accused him of finishing eight cans of beer and half a bottle of tequila alone, and later confided in other participants that he often drank after night shifts. Now, following a wave of online concern and speculation, Anton has spoken publicly about his behavior on the show.

Anton explains his ‘concerning’ behavior on Love is Blind

Anton denied being an alcoholic in his TikTok statement but conceded that his intake grew dramatically while shooting. He ascribed the surge to the stressful nature of the incident.

"Was I drinking more during filming, more than regular life? Yeah, I was," he explained in the video.

Elaborating:

"I think that's due to nerves and the whole experience being very nerve-racking."

He recognized that using alcohol to manage stress wasn't appropriate.

"I just want to point out that I do take accountability for that. I think that's not a healthy way of dealing with nerve-racking situations, you know?" Anton said.

All season long, Ali didn’t hide how uneasy Anton’s drinking made her. One night, after he had downed what she called a “bar’s worth” of alcohol, things hit a breaking point. Off-camera, she confided in the other Love Is Blind girls, saying he’d sometimes grab a drink in the morning after his night shifts, and word spread faster than spilled tequila.

Back in the pods, Anton had painted a different picture. He’d told Ali he used to be the life of every party, out all night with his best friend Joe, but that those days were behind him. Turns out, old habits die hard. Once the real world kicked in, their arguments about his drinking bubbled up again and again, leaving their once-smooth connection feeling a little shaken, not stirred.

Anton’s video drew supportive responses from Love Is Blind fans, many of whom appreciated his honesty. Among the commenters was his fellow cast member Joe, who had also faced criticism for drinking during the season.

“Imagine getting drunk on reality TV,” Joe joked.

To which Anton replied:

“That would be a first.”
