Almost three years after Netflix's breakthrough documentary The Tinder Swindler, victim Cecilie Fjellhoy is helping victims of romance scams in Love Con Revenge, Netflix's latest six-part true crime docu-series. Fjellhoy came into the spotlight in 2021, when she exposed Israeli conman Simon Leviev for his crimes, who stole about $250,000 from her.
While Fjellhoy was left heartbroken by Simon, who turned their romantic courtship into a money-making business, she has partnered with private investigator Brianne Joseph to help fellow women and men victims of romantic scams.
Love Con Revenge Episode 2 Fallen Soldier follows the case of Bridget Phillips, whose boyfriend, Ricky Morrisey, stole more than $25,000 from her under false pretenses. Phillips met Morrisey on a dating app, where he claimed to have served in the Army for a decade. Additionally, the conman also created a fake sob story about one of his friends (Clarence) who died in Afghanistan. Morrisey claimed that he has faced financial difficulties since leaving the Army, compounded by the additional responsibility of supporting Clarence’s family.
After Bridget filed a case against her ex-boyfriend, Ricky Morrisey was found guilty on three charges. Currently, Ricky Morrisey is serving his 3-year sentence in a prison in Rhode Island.
More on Love Con Revenge in our story.
Love Con Revenge: What happened after Bridget confronted Ricky Morrisey?
After Bridget learned about her boyfriend's fraud, thanks to the Tinder Swindler victim, she confronted Ricky Morrisey in Boston. Even when Bridget Phillips presented him with detailed facts about his fraudulent activities, he denied scamming her and maintained that he was actually an army soldier for about a decade. When Ricky Morrisey refused to take responsibility for his crimes, the Love Con Revenge victim finally took her case to the police.
Morrisey was charged with fraud and larceny by the police for a monetary scam involving Bridget and many other young women. In 2023, Love Con Revenge's Ricky Morrisey was extradited to Providence, Rhode Island, where he was found guilty in court on three charges of larceny, access to a computer for fraudulent purposes, and fraudulent Use of a credit card.
Finally, Ricky Morrisey was sentenced to 3 years in prison on September 5, 2025. According to Rhode Island court records, Morrisey is currently serving his 3-year sentence in prison.
Love Con Revenge: Exploring Ricky Morrisey's crimes from the latest Netflix docu-series
According to Bridget Phillips, Ricky Morrisey was just another boy next door that she met on a dating app. The couple connected virtually, and Morrisey revealed that he had lost one of his fellow army comrades and close friends, Clarence Williams, in Afghanistan. Morrisey also claimed that he suffers from PTSD and has been struggling financially as he regularly sends money to Clarence's family to support them.
Bridget and Ricky moved in after three months and were living a happy and normal life. However, the Love Con Revenge victim realised that she was in significant debt and her bank account had been drained. While she initially tried to recall any major expense on her part, she eventually suspected her new boyfriend of a monetary scam.
When Bridget Phillips discovered that Ricky Morrisey is likely behind her draining bank account, she reached out to The Tinder Swindler victim Cecilie Fjellhoy. Their combined investigation led them to Jeannie O’Donnell, another young woman, who claimed that she gave Ricky thousands of dollars after his ex-girlfriend (Bridget) kicked him out of their house. Additionally, Cecilie Fjellhoy also reached out to Clarence's family and learned that Ricky was not close to their son and had never sent them money to help them financially.
This was enough proof that Ricky Morrisey is another Tinder Swindler, who had made thousands of dollars from innocent women on dating apps, under pretenses, and by entering into fake romantic relationships with them.
Love Con Revenge is now streaming on Netflix.
