What happened in Love, Take Two Episodes 3 & 4: A quick recap

Love, Take Two Episode 3 begins with a flashback to Ji-an's troubled childhood when her mother abandoned her to leave for Vietnam with another man. In the present, Ji-an lives in a seaside village with Hyo-ri, her daughter, who is sick with a brain tumor and misses living in Seoul.
There are conflicting feelings between Hyo-ri’s yearning to return to the city and Ji-an's desire to live there in order to help her daughter build her envisioned dream home. Ji-an calls on Ryu Jeong-seok, her old crush from high school, to help her with this project. After initially refusing, he agrees, and the work begins.
Hyo-ri, meanwhile, is meeting Bo-hyeon at his flower farm and has even tried surfing with him and his friend Tae-o. Conflict arises when Ji-an and Hyo-ri argue about moving back to the city.
Hyo-ri's immense stress caused her to develop a headache and a fever with associated symptoms, which sent them to the hospital for the second time. As a result of the crisis related to her daughter's illness, Ji-an tells Hyo-ri her fears about abandonment through her own experience, and states that she will never abandon Hyo-ri.
In Episode 4, Hyo-ri leaves the hospital. Shortly thereafter, Ji-an's friend Seon-yeong tells Ji-an about the house Ji-an is building. Hyo-ri initially thinks of it as just some old, empty house, but Ji-an is serious, even enlisting her old coworkers to help with the construction.
Hyo-ri's feelings change when Seon-yeong reveals that Ji-an's dream is for them to live together in the house. She also confides in her friend Sook about her illness. Later, Ji-an and Hyo-ri have dinner with Ji-an's old coworkers, during which Hyo-ri learns that Ji-an's mother faced challenges as a woman in a leadership role. Ryu drives them home afterward.
By morning, Hyo-ri has warmed up to the idea of the house, leading to Ji-an's utmost delight. Things are moving fast: the build is progressing quickly, and soon the home looks exactly as Hyo-ri imagined. But everything quickly gets complicated when Ji-an's estranged mother appears on their porch, introducing herself after shooing away two stray dogs.
