Paramount+ might have cancelled NCIS: Tony & Ziva, NCIS' latest spin-off series starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, after one season but loyal fans have not lost hope.

The spin-off series' official X fan account has set up a GoFundMe to petition Paramount+ to reverse its unjust decision, which has already raised over $3,000 in a matter of days. Additionally, fans are continuing to put in efforts for the spin-off series, including a billboard in Manhattan, which recently caught the eye of Weatherly himself.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which debuted its ten-episode run in September 2025, saw the return of NCIS veterans Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) in another adventure. While fans were excited to see the couple return after ten long years, the show was tragically canceled by Paramount+ after one season, much to the disappointment of the stars.

However, fans' heartwarming efforts to save NCIS: Tony & Ziva caught Weatherly's attention and he addressed them on X as:

"I want to just say how much this made me smile and maybe even nudged my tear ducts… beautiful, and I want to say a GIGANTIC thank you to any and all involved. I see you. I appreciate you. Big kiss for 2026."

More on this in our story.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva was cancelled after one season

Michael Weatherly joined NCIS back when it debuted on CBS in 2003. After playing the main character (Anthony) across thirteen seasons, the actor quit the show in 2016.

Ten years after the flagship series concluded their stint as a couple, Weatherly and de Pablo returned in NCIS: Tony & Ziva on Paramount+. The spin-off series took place years after Ziva was assumed dead and Tony quit NCIS to raise their daughter. The spin-off series revealed that after Ziva was found alive and completed her final mission with the team, she reunited with Tony and her daughter in Paris. Tony & Ziva saw the couple living in Paris with their daughter, until a cyber attack on Tony's security company forces them to go on the run across Europe.

The spin-off series had a solid debut, climbing Paramount+'s Top 10 charts in the first week of its premiere. According to Luminate data, NCIS: Tony & Ziva saw 51% drop-off after the release of the first three episodes. Following this downward trajectory, the show was cancelled by Paramount+, leaving fans disheartened.

Why was NCIS: Tony & Ziva cancelled by Paramount+?

While Paramount+ did not reveal the real reason behind NCIS: Tony & Ziva's cancellation, fans were quick to come up with their own theories. Many fans attributed the long gap (of ten years) as the primary reason for the show's failure. Tony and Ziva were certainly one of the most iconic couples from the flagship series but their story was cut short in 2014 with Ziva's 'death', much to the fans' disappointment. The spin-off series was marketed as the couple's return to NCIS' gritty universe but many fans had already lost interest in the couple by then.

Additionally, fans felt that the creators' decision to release NCIS: Tony & Ziva on streaming (Paramount+) instead of the standard cable television (CBS) further set it up for failure. With many long-time NCIS loyalists still favoring traditional cable over streaming platforms, a significant portion of the fanbase missed out on the Paramount+ spin-off series. This theory is evident in the decreasing numbers, following the release of Episode 3, which likely cemented this disappointing future for the show.

You can stream the series on Paramount+.
