Based on the Archie Comics characters, Riverdale is a dark teen drama and mystery series developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The show aired on The CW and had seven seasons that aired from 2017 to 2023.
Featuring KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and others, the show’s first season begins on a somber note with a teenager being murdered in the fictional town of Riverdale, following which Archie and his friends try to unravel the past secrets of the town.
KJ Apa plays Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart is Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes is cast as Veronica Lodge, and Cole Sprouse plays Jughead Jones, who is also the show’s narrator. While the first few seasons received universal acclaim, Riverdale got mixed reviews during its later seasons, mostly for its complicated and supernatural plotlines.
However, the show has become an iconic part of pop culture and still has a huge fan following. Madelaine Petsch, who played Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale, spoke about the popular show in an interview with Screen Rant, and shared what she misses about the series at Comic-Con, now that it is over.
What Madelaine Petsch misses about Riverdale at Comic-Con 2025

The show was always a mainstay at the San Diego Comic-Con, and during the 2025 installment of the event, one of the show’s stars, Madelaine Petsch, who played Cheryl Blossom, shared she misses the Riverdale cast at this year's event. During an interview with Screen Rant’s Ash Crossan, Petsch reminiscing about Riverdale, and also spoke about her latest project, The Strangers: Chapter 2.
On Riverdale, she mentioned that she misses her co-stars at Comic-Con 2025. She stated:
“This is my first Comic Con sans Riverdale, and it’s definitely strange walking around without my crew.”
Recalling her experience of being at Comic-Con with the Riverdale cast, she said:
“Oh my gosh, we had so much fun.”
The actress mentioned that she likes visiting Comic-Con, adding that even though Riverdale was deemed “bizarre and insane” for certain aspects of the show, the series was loved by many at Comic-Con. She states,
“I think it's a really great reminder of this thing that we made that was bizarre and insane and received in so many different ways is still so beloved by this place.”
In the same interview, when asked about how the show was noted for its weirder elements, Madelaine Petsch mentioned:
“As an actor, hell yeah, give me all the interesting, weird, f****d-up s**t. That's what I want.”
Riverdale has been an iconic mainstay at Comic-Con

Even though there was a time when the show's run at Comic-Con was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show still enjoyed many years of celebration at the San Diego convention. The show’s panel was an integral part of the program and, as the show is a comic book adaptation, it was loved by fans of Archie Comics enthusiasts and comic-book adaptation fans in general.
Madelaine Petsche therefore commented upon missing her Riverdale co-stars during the 2025 event as the cast members and the show itself were a mainstay. Even though all the actors have not taken up new projects yet, the show is still loved by many.
