Brief recap of first 2 Seasons of House of the Dragon

The first season followed King Viserys I Targaryen's reign and his naming his oldest daughter Rhaenyra as his heir. While Viserys's younger brother Daemon initially was against this, he eventually accepted his brother's decision.

We also saw Vyseris marry Alicent Hightower and have three children with her. When Viserys died, Alicent claimed that Viserys's last words were about their eldest son Aegon, and thus claimed him to be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. This created the conflict between the Greens (Alicent, her children, and a few others) and the Blacks (Rhaenyra, her children, Daemon, and a few others).

At the end of season one, Luke, Rhaenyra's son, was killed by Vhagar and Aemond, which further escalated the situation. What followed is death and destruction, which will continue in season 3.

Cast of House of The Dragon Season 3

The returning cast includes Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Harry Collett as Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, Bethany Antonia as Lady Baela Targaryen, and Phoebe Campbell as Lady Rhaena Targaryen. They are joined by other cast members like Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon II Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond Targaryen, and Phia Saban as Queen Helaena Targaryen.

As for the new cast of: James Norton will be playing Lord Ormund Hightower, Dan Fogler will be playing Ser Torrhen Manderly, Tommy Flanagan will be playing Ser Roderick Dustin, Tom Cullen is joining as Ser Luthor Largent, Joplin Sibtain as Ser Jon Roxton, and Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort.
