The first teaser trailer for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair once again throws child prodigy Malcolm into the familiar chaos of his wildly dysfunctional, middle-class family. Disney+ has unveiled the first look at its upcoming four-part comedy-drama series, a revival of Malcolm in the Middle (2000–2006), scheduled to drop on April 10.

Starring Frankie Muniz as the titular character, the original FOX single-camera comedy series follows the chaotic life of Malcolm, who is caught between the drama and chaos of his parents Hal & Lois and siblings. The sitcom ran for seven seasons and is finally making a comeback with the original cast.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is roughly set 20 years after the events of the series' finale. While Malcolm has been living away from his birth family for a decade, he is summoned for his parents' 40th anniversary, setting the stage for another chaotic adventure.

Who is in the cast of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair?

Fans of the original series have plenty to look forward to, as the revival brings back the beloved ensemble that anchored the show for seven successful seasons and helped turn it into the hit it remains today. Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair will be led by the original cast members Frankie Muniz, Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston.

Kaczmarek and the Breaking Bad actor are back as Lois and Hal, respectively, Malcolm's parents and the chaotic couple who form the heart of the original series. Frankie Muniz will reprise his titular role of Malcolm, Lois and Hal's middle son, who now has a daughter of his own.

Additional returning cast from Malcolm in the Middle also includes Christopher Masterson as the eldest son, Francis, Emy Coligado as Francis' wife, Piama and Justin Berfield as the second child, Reese. Erik Per Sullivan, who portrayed the often-ignored fourth child Dewey and Lukas Rodriguez, who played the fifth and youngest child Jamie, will not return in the revival. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark and Anthony Timpano will portray Dewey and Jamie, respectively, in the upcoming series.

What is the plot for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair?

The official synopsis for the revival series reads as follows:

After shielding himself and his daughter (Karsten) from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is set 20 years after the flagship series' finale, where Malcolm is living with his daughter Leah and girlfriend Tristan, away from the chaos of his birth family. However, Hal and Lois' 40th anniversary forces the titular character to introduce his daughter to his dysfunctional family, setting up chaos, hearty laughter and messy plots over the four-episode season.

In addition to a highly anticipated sibling reunion, fans will also be introduced to Kelly, Malcolm's self-sufficient and studious youngest sister, whose existence was teased in the Malcolm in the Middle Season 7 finale, after Lois discovered she is pregnant again.

Tune in to the Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on April 10.
