Even yet, pretending nothing was going on was difficult, especially because everyone else was revealing profound sentiments and secrets. Trying to hide such big news was awkward and difficult, and it's something the program has never seen before! No previous couple has conceived a child while actively participating in the eight-week experiment.

A nearly similar situation on the show

However, pregnancy has touched the show before. Season 12 featured Chris Williams, whose situation differed dramatically from Meghann and Derrek's experience. Williams was matched with Paige Banks, but their marriage faced immediate challenges.

On their honeymoon, Williams' former fiancée, Mercedes Myrick, contacted him with pregnancy news. The child was Williams', conceived before he joined the show. His existing doubts about Banks, including openly criticizing her appearance on their wedding day, combined with impending fatherhood, created chaos. Williams and Banks stayed together through the experiment despite constant tension. He remained torn between his new wife and Myrick throughout filming.

Williams and Banks ultimately chose not to continue their marriage after the experiment ended. They divorced, and Myrick later suffered a miscarriage.

Meghann and Derrek's situation on Married at First Sight differs significantly. Their pregnancy resulted from their matched relationship rather than outside circumstances, potentially strengthening rather than threatening their bond.
