One of the most interesting plot points about the upcoming show, Wonder Man, is that there is a film inside the show. The show is about an actor who is trying to get hired to play the main role in the remake of an in-universe film called Wonder Man. He desperately needs the role, believing it is his chance to finally get his big break. While there are obstacles in his way, the first thing he needs to do is get through the audition.

That is exactly what we see Simon do in the new video posted by Marvel on Instagram. We get a look at the dialogue Simon had to deliver at the audition, his personal tweaks, and how he finally gave the audition. It helps us see Simon better, as the passionate actor he is, and not just as the superhero he's running away from becoming.

A better look at Wonder Man's Simon

Simon's universe is full of real-life superheroes, since it is set in the main MCU, and thus, when he is hired, the contract explicitly mentions that he cannot have any superhuman abilities, since that is very common in the industry. The filmmaker wants somebody who doesn't have any superhuman powers to play the role of Wonder Man in the remake, and while Simon says he doesn't have any powers, he's lying. Secretly, he does have superhuman powers like superspeed and super strength, and is doing his best to hide them.

But before he even gets the role, he has to clear the audition, which, as we can tell from the show's trailer, he does with Trevor's help. But Simon's passion for acting and his drive are important aspects of the character, and we get to see that better in the new video posted by Marvel on Instagram with the caption,

A look into Simon's audition process

The post includes the script sides for the audition for the film Wonder Man, Simon's notes scribbled onto the page, and finally, his performance in front of the casting director. The notes he made on the side script are important ones, and it shows that he is an actor who likes to really understand his character, the context, and the character's story before playing it. While the script is short, Simon has various questions about what the subtext is, if the character was a savior or a victim, if the other character, Barnaby, meant anything to his character, and many others.

All his questions, which eventually help in delivering his lines with depth, come down to these five:

Why am I? Where am I? Why am I? When am I? How am I?

We don't know if he finds the answers to these questions from the casting department, but regardless, he creates the character in his head and writes in his notes exactly how he should deliver each line. The last slide of the post features his audition performance, and we see him deliver the lines like he intended to, and we can also see that the casting director is impressed. While all we see him do is give the audition, it helps us understand Simon and the hard work he puts in to make his dreams come true.

All episodes of Wonder Man will be released on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, at 6 pm ET.
