Marvel's Wonder Man has already begun its marketing in an exciting way, without being too loud about it. Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has posted a picture of a cap with a new logo on it in animated style. That tiny tease was sufficient to get fan pages and news sites swirling, as many of them speculated that a full trailer would soon be released, perhaps at the New York Comic-Con.

The show should be released on Disney+ this December as part of Marvel's year-end content, and this logo unveiling appears to be the initial step of several waves of promotions yet to come.

What does Wonder Man’s logo drop mean

A couple of years back, a logo reveal was done through a glitzy poster. Today, even a post in social media can trigger a frenzy among fans. The post made by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was brief, a mere close-up shot of a cap with the new Wonder Man logo on it, however, it said a lot. The simple, hands-on photo felt personal, easy to share, and perfect for reels or fan edits.

A logo is also a story in itself. This one is funny, light, and jovial, suggesting that the show could be less dark or serious and more lighthearted and self-aware.

And there is another clever move behind it: Marvel can channel fan responses as feedback. If people love the logo, create memes, or even create their own version, the studio will know they are doing something right, and can tailor future reveals, such as posters or trailers.

Wonder Man trailer buzz at NYCC

The trailer buzz isn’t random. As the New York Comic-Con is approaching, the audiences believe that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II made a subtle reference to the fact that something huge is on its way. He did not directly refer to NYCC but that was probably done intentionally, a subtle hint to get people talking without Marvel necessarily saying anything outright at the moment.

If Marvel releases a teaser of Wonder Man at Comic-Con, it will likely be brief, from 30 to 60 seconds. It will likely establish the mood of the show, provide a brief overview of the life of Simon Williams in Hollywood, exhibit some fun superhero action, and perhaps include a few MCU connections. Subsequently, a small panel with a Q&A session could be hosted by Marvel.

What we actually know

Details of Wonder Man’s plot are still a secret but the basics have been made pretty evident. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays the role of Simon Williams or Wonder Man. The star cast includes great actors such as Ben Kingsley, Ed Harris, and Demetrius Grosse. The Disney+ series is reportedly set to have eight episodes and combine two styles: the hilarious backstage Hollywood tale and the blockbuster vibe of the MCU.

Wonder Man is speculated to come out in December. The combination of superhero drama and comedy is ideal, considering Wonder Man’s comic book background as a hero who has been associated with show business and Marvel’s recent move to experiment with different genres on television.
