Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the ABC late-night talk show, was suspended on September 17, 2025, after Kimmel commented on the MAGA movement's reaction to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Many have spoken up against ABC, and the parent company Disney, because most fans, audiences, and Kimmel's fellow industry professionals believe this is an attack on Freedom of Speech.
Mark Ruffalo, an American actor who has starred in multiple Disney Marvel projects, has spoken up against Disney's latest decision. The actor reposted a report of Disney's shares going down, saying that not bringing back Jimmy Kimmel and his show will cost Disney money.
Mark Ruffalo on Disney suspending Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Jimmy Kimmel has been hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! For over two decades, since 2003. Kimmel has interviewed countless actors, musicians, and other artists, and also hosted the Oscars four times. Thus, he has understandably become an integral part of the industry, and has friends and colleagues standing beside him after ABC pulled the plug on his show.

Mark Ruffalo is most popularly known for playing Hulk/Bruce Banner and appeared as the character for the first time in Marvel's The Avengers. The actor has since appeared as Hulk/Bruce Banner in multiple Marvel films. Since Marvel is owned by Disney, Ruffalo speaking on the matter holds significant weight.
Ruffalo reposted a Threads post by Still We Rise (@_stillwerise), which included a screenshot of a report saying Disney's shares have dropped significantly after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel's show. Ruffalo reposted that post on Threads (@markruffalo) with the caption,
"It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show. Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America."
The actor has always been vocal about political issues, especially on Threads, and this time, he has spoken up against the media company in support of Kimmel. As he said, it seems like the audience and shareholders are liking the route Disney is taking, and if they choose to cancel Jimmy Kimmel's show, they might incur heavy financial losses.

Ruffalo isn't the only one who has spoken up about the show's suspension. Jimmy Fallon, who hosts The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, spoke about the issue, saying,
"I don't know what's going on, and no one does. But I know Jimmy Kimmel, and he's a decent, funny, and loving guy, and I hope he comes back. Yeah, a lot of people are worried that we won't keep saying what we want to say or that we'll be censored. But I'm going to cover the President's trip to the UK just like I normally would."
This was followed by Fallon covering President Trump's trip, but we did not hear what he actually wanted to say. Certain parts of his talk on the trip were dubbed by another voice, saying only good or positive things about the President. This seemed like an indirect way of Fallon expressing that while he wants to be absolutely honest, he isn't sure how much freedom of speech he currently has, given the present environment. He ended his coverage of the President's trip to the UK with the line,
"And you can quote me on that!"
Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been suspended indefinitely; thus, as of now, there's no news as to when the show will be back. Disney is facing considerable backlash for their decision, but it is yet to be seen how it handles the matter. Stay tuned for more updates.
