Marvel Zombies season 2 is obligated to answer a few questions that season 1 didn't touch on. The finale showed Kamala Khan making a desperate decision that seemed to restore her world, only for cracks to immediately appear. Her so-called “normal life” unraveled into fragments of the undead reality, with another version of Riri Williams warning her to wake up. That twist alone demands further explanation, since it confirms the nightmare is far from over.

At the same time, Scarlet Witch, now fully leaning into her Red Queen persona, remains the biggest threat. Her survival sets the stage for another clash, but it also forces fans to wonder how any remaining heroes can realistically defeat her. With the roster of survivors shrinking, the stakes are higher than ever. Blade Knight, Ironheart, and Kate Bishop were hinted at, but their actual fates need clarity.

Beyond immediate fallout, Marvel Zombies season 2 could also expand the story into larger MCU territory. The introduction of mutants, possible links to Avengers: Doomsday, and the looming shadow of Doctor Doom mean this isn’t just about one infected Earth anymore. The multiverse is bleeding, and the undead corner needs resolution before it swallows everything.

5 questions Marvel Zombies Season 2 needs to answer

1) Can Kamala Khan Escape the Red Queen’s Illusion?

The biggest question at the end of Marvel Zombies season 1 is whether Kamala Khan is truly free or still trapped in Scarlet Witch’s twisted illusion. The finale suggested she woke up to a restored world where her family and friends were alive. Almost immediately, cracks began to appear, and a second version of Riri Williams warned her that the undead were still closing in.

That moment was more than a simple fake-out; it revealed Scarlet Witch’s growing influence as the Red Queen. If Kamala remains stuck in an alternate reality controlled by Wanda, it means her decisions may no longer matter.

Her heroism, choices, and even her identity could be manipulated to serve the Red Queen’s goals. Season 2 must answer whether Kamala can break free and reclaim her agency, or if she is destined to become another pawn in Wanda’s undead empire.

2) Who Actually Survived the Season 1 Finale?

By the time Marvel Zombies reached its finale, the survivor count had dwindled to almost nothing. Kamala was clearly left standing, but the fates of other key characters remain unclear. Blade Knight appeared poised for another fight, but the closing moments offered no confirmation. Kate Bishop and Riri Williams were seen in Kamala’s illusion, yet only Riri’s second version, begging her to wake up, suggested survival outside the dream.

This ambiguity leaves fans unsure of who can realistically fight back in season 2. If Kamala is alone, the odds of victory shrink dramatically. If Blade Knight or Kate Bishop did survive, the series has a foundation to rebuild its resistance. Marvel has the chance to deliver clarity while also reintroducing supporting heroes. The uncertainty is intentional, but it risks dragging the story if not answered. Audiences deserve to know exactly who is left to carry the torch.

3) Will Scarlet Witch Cement Her Role as the Red Queen?

Scarlet Witch dominated the first season of Marvel Zombies, yet her story is only beginning. The finale placed her firmly in the Red Queen role, a leader whose strength and hunger make her the ultimate threat to humanity. Unlike other zombies, Wanda retains her immense magical power, making her practically unstoppable. Kamala’s illusion ending only underscored Wanda’s hold over the world, suggesting she can bend entire realities.

Season 2 must determine how far her reach extends. Is her control limited to Earth, or can she manipulate the multiverse itself? Furthermore, how will her actions intersect with other MCU villains who may cross dimensions, such as Doctor Doom?

Wanda’s Red Queen arc has the potential to redefine her character within the MCU, shifting her from a tragic figure to an undead conqueror. Without directly confronting her power, no survivor has any chance of turning the tide.

4) Could Mutants and Street-Level Heroes Enter the Fight?

Marvel Zombies season 1 focused on a small group of younger heroes and survivors. However, season 2 could expand the roster dramatically. With the MCU slowly introducing mutants, the series has a chance to pull in names like Wolverine, Magneto, and Storm, all of whom played major roles in the original comics.

Their inclusion would bring not only fresh abilities but also complex perspectives on survival and sacrifice. Beyond mutants, Marvel has room to highlight street-level heroes like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or The Punisher, all of whom could ground the story in grittier, more personal combat.

Blade Knight already introduced a mystical element, and the addition of others could further diversify the strategies used against the undead. While the quarantine imposed by Nova Corp suggests that Earth is sealed off, the multiverse still allows for unexpected arrivals. Season 2 could finally deliver the crossover energy that Season 1 only hinted at.

5) How Could Avengers: Doomsday Shape Season 2?

The larger MCU looming over Marvel Zombies cannot be ignored, particularly with Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon. Victor Von Doom’s confirmed ability to travel between realities makes him a prime candidate to stumble into the zombie-infested Earth. That possibility raises huge stakes for season 2.

If Doom arrives, will he attempt to control the undead or eradicate them for his own gain? His appearance could also serve as a bridge between animated and live-action projects, highlighting just how interconnected Marvel’s multiverse really is. Beyond Doom, there is also the chance that Avengers: Secret Wars will spill into this corner of the franchise.

With Doctor Strange already appearing in zombie form in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has precedent. Season 2 could explore what happens when heroes and villains from other dimensions crash into this infected world, forcing Kamala and any survivors into alliances they never expected.
