Eddie Redmayne, The Day of the Jackal star, revealed why he loved living the Jackal life, speaking with Sky TV. He expressed how difficult it is to be a Jackal. He is training most of the time and even during the shoot, transforming from one character to another with hours sitting for prosthetics and makeup. This is because Jackal is shown as a skilled assassin who often acquires different looks to escape getting caught.

Despite this, Redmayne felt the shooting was like a vacation as the beautiful locations selected for filming by production. He expressed how the training he was going through was "not fun" and the shoot often felt like a holiday, though a very sweaty one.

He recalled how he almost felt like he was shooting various short films every time playing a different character:

"It's odd making this story because it's like I make a lot of little films, from the German stuff to the masquerading and transforming into different characters, to playing the French guy, to being here in CAA passing in Spain. It's at times deeply confusing. But it's also pretty wonderful."

The role was demanding for the actor as he was required to sit for makeup and prosthetics for hours, often taking up the faces of different men across ages. Along with this, the extent of physical strength the role required was tremendous. Redmayne added:

"So many things running and walking, and jumping."

In The Day of the Jackal, Redmayne's character is seen using various aliases and documents and executing his mission. The tension in the show mostly arises from this character transformation that always keeps the viewers guessing about Jackal's next move, and another is the investigator's efforts to uncover his identity, anticipate his move, and stop him.

Sky TV also features some behind-the-scenes moments of Redmayne doing the training and sitting for intense prosthetics, while it also unveils a mobile phone video which shows Redmayne wishing to be Jackal while getting old, so that he could live in the locations Jackal is shown living in the show. Eddie said:

"When I grow up, I wanna be Jackal so that I can live in a place like this."
