MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 11: Participants bake two different flavors of macarons for the latest challenge
The latest MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 11 saw judges Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich reflecting on previously eliminated duos. Judges then revealed the challenge.
Contestants were supposed to create two different flavors of sweet delicacies, macarons in a huge tower shape. They were given specific ingredients and a few flavors to work with.
Whichever duo would impress the judges with their elegant and incredible tower of macarons would be announced as the winners. Additionally, there would also be an elimination of the bottom two duos.
Adam and Joel prepared strawberry cheesecake macarons. Along with that, they made chocolate peanut butter cup macarons. Gordon Ramsay said:
"Visually, it's stunning. The sheen on them is beautiful and consistent. They are delicious."
Joe noted the flavors were "spot-on." Jessica and Jesse chose pistachio with white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake flavors for their macarons. Judge Gordon Ramsay mentioned he loved the "contrast" and the combination.
For Rachel and Julio, the duo went with passion fruit-white chocolate and chocolate-blood orange brigadeiro flavors. Judge Gordon Ramsay noted the grainy structure:
"The chocolate is delicious, but the texture is slightly grainy and it's a little overcooked."
Tiffany pointed out how the flavors were "great," but they didn't hit what they were supposed to hit.
Tina and Aivan made matcha buttercream macarons with yuzu and white chocolate flavors. Gordon criticized their macarons. He said they were "rock hard." Joe added:
"This is what happens when you put cream cheese between two biscuits. Even the mighty fall."
Zach and Michelle chose lemon lavender and chocolate bourbon flavors. Sharing his opinion about their macarons, Gordon said they were "exceptional." He also talked about the taste and consistency. Tiffany liked the lemon flavor, while Joe felt the fillings didn't have enough power.
Timothy and Athena's peach cobbler and banana pudding macarons were overcooked, according to Gordon. Tiffany said the peach tasted like "whipped butter." Last Dynamic Duo, Azu and Javier, chose chocolate amaretto and raspberry flavors. Gordon said they were consistent and theirs was a "tower of art."
Adam and Joel won the MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 11 challenge. Apart from that, the judges also appreciated Zach-Michelle and Azu-Javier's delicacies.
The bottom two duos were:
- Tina and Aivan,
- Timothy and Athena.
The episode ended with Timothy and Athena's elimination. The newlyweds reacted to their elimination and shared with the cameras:
"We came here on our honeymoon. Being able to show the judges our love and feel that love through our food is more than anything we could have asked for. This was the best wedding gift we could have ever gotten."
For the next episode, Adam and Joel will have a special power. The upcoming challenge will be a barbecue fest.
