In the flashbacks, we see that Olympia tried to mend her relationship with her mother after her father's death, but she failed. It was only during the debrief session that her mother told her that she had married Lionel. Yes, it turns out Olympia's mother did not inform her daughter about the marriage. It's messy, chaotic, and emotional. In the end, they sort out their differences.Matty also goes through a rollercoaster of family problems. Joey, Alfie's biological father, is out of rehab, and now he wants to co-parent Alfie. Matty invites him to dinner, but he skips it, leaving Matty unsure about his plans. However, later, Joey tells her that he's intimidated by her presence and even calls her a bulldozer. This hurts Matty, who thinks Edwin and Alfie should meet Joey. In the end, Matty meets Joey and apologizes to him, and this lessens the distance between them.
